Sure. But sometimes that reason is not because the music isn't deserving of more notoriety.
Believe otherwise and you're missing out on great stuff.

It's not forgotten around my house! Great pick!
Do you guys enjoy the follow-up album to that one more or less than "Resisting Success"?
I heard their first one first, so I like it a bit more. But "If at First..." is good too. Haven't listened to other material of theirs, maybe I should one day? And I thought of another one: Detente - Recognize No Authority - my first thrash album

I remember when I had that and Master Of Puppets and I'd play Detente more as MOP had too many slow songs I would get bored of
Also made me smile when I seen pics of James hanging out with them on the insert sleeve.

Agree with ToB. There is some great music that never made it to the masses, not because the music isn't good, but for numerous other reasons. You can't judge musicianship and how good music is based on popularity.

Here's Leviathan, a band that never made it past the demo stage. They are likely known best for having future Cannibal Corpse vocalist Chris Barnes as their vocalist:

I dig those Hardcore-flavored thrash , however, the term 'Obscure' is somewhat relative, you can't actually or precisely pigeon-hole whats obscure and what's not
Erosion, Accuser, Insult II Injury,Wrekking Machine, Warpath (GER)... just to name a few

not sure if they're considered "obscure" to anyone here, but i really really love Dorsal Atlantica's Antes do Fim & Dividir & Conquistar albums.
I guess obscure is a relative word, but what I meant was, most people pick albums from bands like Slayer, Kreator, Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Destruction, Overkill, Tetament, etc. as their top favorite thrash albums. I suppose it's anything outside those universally well known bands.
I've never even heard Dorsal Atlantica's Antes do Fim & Dividir & Conquistar, so I'll have to check that out.

Disaffection - Begin the Revolution
Thresher - Here I Am
Ultimatum - Puppets of Destruction.
I don't know if Ultimatum qualifies as obscure, but no one that I know of personally knows who they are. Who cares tho, its a fantastic album.

To musicians in the nearby (90 miles away) music scene. All three of those bands are obscure. I name dropped all three bands last week-end (among others) and it was crickets. I loaned a Ultimatum cd out, hope I get it back.

Right on. Like all these as well. I'm not sure which I like better though, Thresher - Here I Am or Totally Possessed. I'd probably go with the later as it a classic from golden days of thrash.
Glad you like Puppet. Do you have the remastered version? It's so far superior to the original Rowe version.

Was listening to one yesterday that I'd add to my list:
Death Squad - Driving Blind
If you like thrash with a tinge of hardcore, this one will fit the bill.

I picked up a disc by Slaughtered Grace at a flea market a few months back... it's basically a local Jersey band's demo that was later pressed onto CD by Cyclopean Music, which was the Misfits' home-brewed label at the time. it's not bad, but nothing earth-moving, either.
That's about as "obscure" as I've got.

Since most of my finds are recommendations from this forum, I don't get that "obscure" either, but one that seems to go by largely unknown is Virus and their album Lunacy.
These guys were a "blind buy" a coupla years ago at a used shop. The cover looked cool and the back photo was some long-haired heshers, so I grabbed it. The production of the album is horrible (you gotta crank the volume), but it's pretty good Bay-inspired, Nuclear Assult-like British thrash.
I think they have one or 2 other older albums out, but I've never seen/heard them.
