Eh, not too sure I like the vocals on that song. The music ain't bad but something about her singing there that doesn't gel with me.

Official video:
Pretty sweet. I would have rather seen more artistic stuff that the behind-the-scenes crap, but I guess it got me interested in this movie they're doing. Has a kind of Mirrormask feel to it, you know.
Anyway, I love this song.

The more I hear this song, the more I dig it. Can't wait for this album. Question is, do I download it first and then buy the US release, or do I buy the import early?

Nightwish at one time reigned as my favorite band. I discovered them through the song Bless the Child when a Counter-Strike team used it in their frag video. It was so unbelievably fresh for me at the time, I had never heard such a bombastic sound. Of course Tarja's vocals captured me first, but the whole Nightwish package, Tuomas's intricate keyboards, Jukka's spot-on drums, Marco's thundering bass (Sami was a more straightforward bassist) and Emppu's roaring guitar, all playing against a dark, melodic backdrop. It was a special moment for me, and reminded me a lot of the moment I discovered Iron Maiden.
In fact, other than Iron Maiden, they are the only band whose ENTIRE discography I own.
The new single is exactly what I expected from them, and I can't wait to hear Imaginaerum. I ordered the special edition bundle which comes with a digital copy released on December 6!

I'll be picking this up on release day.
Always enjoyed nightwish and I enjoy both vocalists. Have to say though the last album blew me away. After all the problems they had with the tarja stuff I thought dark passion play was excellent. Saw them headline one of the days of the bloodstock festival in the uk on the tour for that album. Haven't listened to them much of late simply because of so much other music to listen too plus they've been a bit quiet of late.
I've kinda gone off the whole gothic female fronted metal thing too. Don't get me wrong ill always like nightwish as no matter how stale a genre gets there's always a few leading lights and nightwish write such good music. Bands like epica and within temptation are boring to me now as are most other 2nd tier goth female fronted bands.
I've been listening to a lot of Amorphis lately (one of my fave bands) as I'm seeing them live this coming Sunday but I'll stick all the nightwish albums on my iPhone tonight and get back on board.

Wow this album is amazing!! The songs gets better each listen, there is so much happening and Anette sounds great. I also like that they use more male vocals than before. The artwork is also great. Perfect!

I think it's a really good album, but I also think it's their worst.

Really? I think it is one of their best. I like the direction they are taking with this one.

It's still a great album, but I just prefer the heaviness of their previous albums.

I liked Nightwish for a few minutes back when Wishmaster was new...I got over it. I never understood all the hubub over them.

I enjoy it too, but you're right that they've done better. However, they have some new elements added to many of the songs so it's kind of nice to see that they're not content in just rehashing the same material they've done before.

I think this describes my opinion of NW as well. I'm not sure I'd like them even if Tarja returned on vocals. Tuomas' songwriting has just gotten too bloated for my musical tastes these days.

I like Anette, but I wish they'd gotten another powerhouse vocalist instead of her. She fits, she's good, but her voice is just sweet; there's no real power there. Someone like Floor Jansen would have been a brilliant choice for replacement.
I'm sorry for bumping an old thread, but this was too good not to.
Notice this was before the release of Imaginaerum.

I should have been a band manager or something. Haha.
