| I Do not see it either. YABA was Stryper's worst album except for that lame "In God We Trust". To beat out the other albums in contention somehow seems rigged! I wonder if a bot was planted. | |

I went back a second time and voted for Ynqwie Malmsteen. That album, when it was released, had jaws hitting the floor. It helped changed the way people played guitar back then. Suddenly everyone want to shred like Malmsteen. I'm surprised that Van Halen 1984 is doing so well. While it was a massively popular album, the guitar playing was pared down quite a bit on it compared to earlier Van Halen albums. Eddie was more focused on keyboards and writing poppier songs. It's hardly a contender for "the Best Guitar Album of 1984" IMO. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| BTW, the 1985 poll is now up: http://www.guitarworld.com/poll-what-was-best-guitar-album-1985
Stryper is winning again. I'd be willing to bet that the Stryper forum is leading this crusade. Kiss is in a close second. I wouldn't be surprised if the Kiss Army doesn't come out fighting as well. I love 'em both, but Yngwie and Anthrax would be contenders for me as well. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| I gave it to Stryper for '85. It's not really my favorite year for choices though... Other contenders could have been Anthrax and Exodus. (but I like those albums more for the rhythm playing) | |

no. whomever it is bumping Stryper to the top has some kind of agenda. i like Stryper, but i seriously doubt they'd even make it into the top 10 if the poll was legit. sure maybe here or at that other christian club you guys belong to, but not at Guitar World. _________________

I think it's people from the Stryper facebook pushing people to vote. Since you can vote more than one time by refreshing your screen, there is no way it's a "fair" poll. Kiss & Stryper both have some very die-hard fans. Right. That and the multiple voting thingy Ult mentioned invalidates this whole process. Does the winner get something? Like a cover story on Guitar World or something. If it's all just for fun, that's cool. No sweat off my sack. Just seems kinda pointless to me, that's all. Lord knows I've wasted allot of precious time here with my nonsense. Carry on. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

Sweet is a product of the Van Halen generation and, even though he's obviously influenced by all those guys, his generation went in a much more technical direction.
The only one on my above list that could come close to matching him would be Tipton (you can hear on Painkiller that he was moving way past Downing into the sweeps and shredding). You sir, are insane and the hangman awaits you!!!

You are right that's why I voted Power Of The Night in the 2nd poll. Not in any way my favorite album but I love the guitar work of Criss Oliva (even on the often hated Fight For The Rock).
