IT'S A FALSE RUMOR - Tony Iommi's response:
I’m saddened that a Birmingham journalist whom I trusted has chosen this point in time to take a conversation we had back in June and make it sound like we spoke yesterday about a Sabbath reunion.
Thanks to the internet it’s now gone round the world as some sort of “official” statement on my part, absolute nonsense. I hope he’s enjoyed his moment of glory, he won’t have another
Ah-HA!! Maybe the Tony Iommi response is FALSE to throw us off the trail. Or maybe the real Tony DID post that, but he's only saying it's false. The plot thickens. Or gets stupider. Take you pick.

I don't really care for it, honestly. They're just gonna break up again. It's like a bad high school relationship; it will only end in tears.

I don't want it.
Of all the things the Osbourne camp has pulled over the years, I don't really want to put any more of my money into their fat bank account (Sharon ought to just stick it in her fat mouth), and as kmorg mentioned, Ozzy's voice just isn't what it used to be. They should just find someone new and different.
I'll always cherish the eight Sabbath records he did with them in the 70s, and his first two solos. That's all I'll ever need from him...

My biggest beef with this if it happens is that it'll probably freeze the plans to reissue the rest of the Martin albums as deluxe editions.
Yes. I would rather get Tony Martin reissues than another Ozzy reunion.

TONY IOMMI's Manager Doesn't Deny BLACK SABBATH Members 'Have Been Talking' About Reunion - Aug. 17, 2011 According to the Birmingham Mail, BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi's manager has refused to deny that the band's four original members are getting back together.
The Birmingham Mail reported on Tuesday (August 16) that the original SABBATH lineup plans to reunite for an album and tour, causing Iommi's web site to "virtually crash," according to the guitarist's manager, Ralph Baker.
When asked by Birmingham Mail writer Andy Coleman whether Iommi considered the story in the Birmingham Mail to be untrue, Baker said, "No, he doesn't say that." But Baker added, "We haven't got anything in place. He's not denying that the guys have been talking but there's nothing in the way that's been implied in the statements that you made.
"He made them to you in June and he felt that he made them to you off the record."
According to Coleman, the story of the reunion of SABBATH's original lineup first appeared on a specialist music web site and was expanded by the Birmingham Mail.
Iommi's manager said the guitarist's comments made to the Birmingham Mail in June during a wide-ranging interview that included the charity single he had recorded with DEEP PURPLE's Ian Gillan, his contract to write music for a series of horror films and his contribution to Birmingham's Home Of Metal exhibition, were taken out of context.
"A very insignificant little web site [apparently referring to MetalTalk.net. β Ed.] put something out about SABBATH getting back together and being in the Midlands. End of story," said Baker.
"When you [Birmingham Mail] went online, that's when it went around the world because it was official.
"Tony's web site virtually crashed and it took off.
"That's why Tony's pissed off β because the story would have died a death.
"I don't consider some dodgy little web site [presumably referring to MetalTalk.net. β Ed.] a trigger [to publish]. It was picked up by everybody because a lot of these kids have nothing better to do than simply pick up a story from one site and run with it and see what happens."

So noone's denying that the band isn't not talking to each other, but it's untrue that Tony said they weren't reuniting. Got it? Clear as mud.
Seems to me with all this double-talking jive is that that Tony & Geezer were having some casual conversations with Ozzy about writing, recording, the weather and the price of tea in China. It's in the early stages and it could happen or go nowhere. No point in saying "it's on" because it could all fall apart in a heartbeat. Noone is committed to anything.
However, like the internet is prone to do, we take one little comment and blow it up into something completely over-the-top. Fun though, ain't it?

Geezer Butler does not seem to be too interested, and Iommi seemed to enjoy his time with Dio, that version of Black Sabbath recorded new material, etc and even changed their name to Heaven and Hell, Iommi was tired of playing the same set of songs with Ozzy, in an interviews promoting 'The Devil You Know', Iommi claimed he proposed changing the set list and adding a few other Sabbath songs in the set from Ozzy years, and Ozzy wouldn't do it.

Iommi & Geezer need to forget about Ozzy and bring in Miljenko Matijevic.

Ozzy probably couldn't remember any of those other songs.

Sounds like the youtube clips of Ozzy singing Iron Man. He looks a lot like Ozzy in his bloated days, aside from being shorter than the Oz man.

Mini-KISS was playing down the street. The competition is cut-throat in the dwarf-metal scene (yet another sub-genre!).

The name Black Sabbath has been retired for many years now and it needs to stay that way. Ozzy doesn't need to record anything else, his days are past.
I would much prefer seeing Iommi stretch out and do something "non-metal" for a change.

I really liked the style of the "Dep Sessions" album with Glenn Hughes, still heavy in parts but more focus on groove and melody...or more material like Seventh Star would be a nice change of pace.
Iommi has always written to suit the vocalists (which is why Dio Sabbath sounds so much different from Ozzy Sabbath) and also why the Glenn Hughes material has it's own vibe. The Tony Martin stuff is fairly close in style to the Dio songwriting style (except for the ballads).

I agree, I loved the Dep Sessions, and as much as I love all line ups of Black Sabbath, with Dio now gone, Iommi should only revive the name Black Sabbath with Ozzy Osbourne or let it rest.

Ozzy skipped the premier of his movie that his son directed, interesting quotes from his kids:
Ozzy Osbourne wasn't in Hollywood last night (Monday, August 22) for the premiere and special MusiCares screening of his movie, "God Bless Ozzy Osbourne", which was filmed and produced by his son Jack. His absence was conspicuous and lends credence to the rumors that Ozzy is in England working on material for a new BLACK SABBATH album with other members of the band's original lineup.
Artisan News asked Ozzy's daughter Kelly at last night's event where her dad was and she sort of let the cat out of the bag while her brother was better able to keep the secret.
"My dad is⦠I don't know if I'm allowed to tell you," Kelly said. "But he's doing something that is very, very exciting. He's just finished a tour. But he's doing something very exciting. I'm not allowed to talk about it, though."
When asked if there is any truth to the reports that Ozzy is in England working on a new SABBATH album, Jack replied, "I can neither confirm nor deny who he is with or where he is."
Artisan News also asked Jack for his opinion on what made BLACK SABBATH so special.
"I think BLACK SABBATH is legendary because they helped pioneer a genre," Jack said. "What they we redoing at the time was unheard of. They did something that people were scared of, and that was kind of cool back then, and I think it really resonates with people. The music is still very current when you listen to it."
