Mr. Orlando can shred no doubt!
And of course we all know what the Duke is capable of...
Very curious about this project.

He can shred, but can this band write good songs? That is the big question. All the players are good I'm sure, but YouTube is littered with killer guitarists who don't seem to be able to write anything great.

Depends on who's doing the writing. They're going to debut some songs live soon, so I guess we'll see.
This will probably be in the vein of Fozzy, or something similar, but probably heavier. Rich Ward is a songwriter by nature, so if he's part of the songwriting, then it'll have that flavor. It's his style.
And he's fantastic!

Or not. From Rich's forum:

So, the news is finally out. This is exciting stuff. The CD was already written and recorded before Rich came on board, so he is not on the album. They'll rehearse all next week and then play the gig on the 24th in NYC. I believe they're going to be on Eddie Trunk's radio show afterwards.
This is a side project for everyone involved, so there's a lot of schedule coordination that will have to happen for any kind of touring. From what I've read online, I believe the show may be recorded next week, so there's a chance that may come out in some manner.
I'm interested to hear what the CD sounds like. Mike Orlando is a pretty amazing player, and Rich has been telling me for years he's a fan of Symphony X.
So Rich didn't write anything. Now I have no guess on what it'll sound like. Haha.

The bassist.
Quite the musical leap. Haha. Dude plays the bass upside down, too. Weird. Not sure I've seen that before, though I imagine it's been done since guitarists do it.

Upside down, or just a left-handed bass player

Well, the low string is on the bottom.

This band has potential... especially after Rich Ward gets a chance to lay down his crunchy rhythm guitar.
We can see that this Orlando guy is great. I wonder if the singer is the right match for the band?

Why would you even compare the two?

Why not? When a musician does more than one project... there will be comparisons.

Well, first off, Rich Ward wrote none of the music on this album; it was written before he joined. And second, one paper it looks like it'll sound nothing like Fozzy.
Maybe it will sound like Fozzy, but Rich still didn't write any of the music, so comparing wouldn't make sense.

This thing is a mess. Worst album sampler ever.
It's also has that weak Pro Tools sound where there's no balls to the sound of the guitars and stuff. Kind of like the last few Iced Earth albums and the last Demons & Wizards album.

That album teaser sounds like a song from Metallica's last album.
I dig the vocalist. I wish DT had someone like that. LaBrie is so weak sounding, IMO.
The teaser doesn't sound terrible, but you're right, it does have an artificial sound to it.

I hate those album teaser vids.
In my experience the actual album doesn't sound like the teaser at all. I can only hope that holds true in this case.
