What was Van Halen's heaviest album/song?

I remember a friend bring over VH1 to my house back in the late 70's. I was already into stuff like Nugent, Aerosmith, Uriah Heep, UFO, Kiss, etc. This album blew me away. I thought, at the time, it was the heaviest thing I had ever heard. (I discovered bands like Saxon, Priest, Motorhead, etc. not long after). "Eruption" had to be one of the most influential instrumentals ever. After that album, everyone was trying to learn how to do that "tap-on" thing, even though several artists were using it before Eddie.

What would you say is the heaviest VH song & album?

I'm not sure if it's their heaviest but my favorite VH song is "Sinners Swing."

Fair Warning has a darker/heavier vibe than the other albums... and that riff in Unchained is huge!

A very heavy song is JUDGEMENT DAY from For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge. One of my fave song by the band.

I agree as well, that is their heaviest song. One of my favorites as well!

The heaviest album to me is For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge.
The heaviest song would be Poundcake

Women & Children First has the heaviest "guitar tone", listen to the riff at the beginning of "Fools".

Fair Warning is the actual "heaviest" and the first album Eddie used Drop-D tuning (afaik)

Really? Wow. I'll have to give that one a spin. I just don't remember any of the Sammy-era discs being as heavy and raw as those first four platters.

Poundcake sounds heavier because it's tuned down a whole step and they layered about 10 guitar tracks together.
