They are a quirky band to be sure. My fave of theirs is Fire Of Unknown Origin. Quirky is a good description. They were (are?) very inconsistent. I have the same feeling towards Nazareth. They can make some amazing songs and some truly horrible ones.

| I had this comp... I'm sure someone here will tell me, "Dude, don't listen to the hits, man. The deep cuts are where it's at". But the way I figure, if their best (ie most popular) material doesn't spark any flames, I'm not digging any deeper to find something I like. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

IMO that is an excellent comp and unlike alot of bands, their hits give you a good idea what they actually sound like and are some of their strongest songs.

| The B.O.C. comp I have is from the uber-cheap "Super Hits" series. I think I bought it out the bargain bin at the local A&P supermarket, of all places, for around five bucks. I figured that was a cheap enough entry point. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I ditched that comp album a long time ago and never looked back. Looking at the track list on Amazon, I think I enjoy other bands covering BOC better than I like BOC. Iced Earth, Metallica, Lizzy Borden, Wolf and Racer X all do exceptional covers. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | I was familiar with the hits (Burnin For You was one of my favorite videos back in the early MTV days) but then about ten years ago they played at a local fairgrounds. I thought they were incredible and have been a fan since. Managed to pick up the remastered albums for real cheap recently. | |

| Amazing band. Their self titled first is my favorite album of all time.
The best is from 1972-1983, but there's something worth checking out on every record IMO

Yup both bands are like that but they are essential in my book for must have bands with them they both the rock world or metal world would not be the same they influenced alot of bands. Wargod52

| I have everything BOC has put out, the 70's BOC is masterful in writing, playing, and all of their albums in the 70's are awesome.
They are essential in metalheads collection how ever it is if you collect all their cds or only the good ones. Each cd or album have some good stuff on them but their 70's are all classic.

It's got alot of transparent song writing, but I don't hate it, there's a couple tracks I like alot actually (Dancing In The Ruins, White Flags, Shadow Warrior, Perfect Water and yeah as 80's anthemic as it is Beat 'Em Up) it's just sub par compared to what they could do.

Yeah, I'm not real big on Cultosaurus either (other than Black Blade and The Marshall Plan) but I totally disagree about Imaginos. That's actually one of my favorite BOC albums.

Loved Cultosaurus Erectus and Imaginos, where IMO Club Ninja was B.O.C.'s attempt at AOR, with outside songwriters that contributed horrible songs such as Make Rock Not War or whatever it is called.
