from the unretired department:
Switzerland's most successful rock export, Krokus, have begun working on their 17th studio album with the wroking title of 'Dirty Dynamite'.
For the next couple of weeks Krokus producer and bassist Chris Von Rohr, along with vocalist Marc Storace, will be laying down bass and vocal tracks at London's Abbey Road Studios. Coincidentally The Beatles, the band who made Abbey Road studio famous, are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year. Sound engineer for the recording sessions is again Dennis Ward (Unisonic), who also recorded the band's last album 'Hoodoo'.
Chris Von Rohr promises, "The new songs sound like 'dirty dynamite': pure, dirty, in your face hard rock with a touch of blues."
Adds Marc Storace, "We've been taking the time it needs writing for our next rock album and we guarantee that it definitely will contain no fillers!."
'Hoodoo' was released on February 26, 2010 and featured the return of the 'classic' Krokus line-up of Marc Storace, Chris Von Rohr, guitarists Fernando Von Arb and Mark Kohler, and drummer Freddy Steady. Sony Music later released a limited and numbered 'Special Edition' of the album to celebrate its platinum status -- complete with footage of the band's celebrated live reunion show at Stade de Suisse in Berne, Switzerland and an original Krokus belt buckle.

Krokus had a platinum album, in this day and age? Really? Color me extremely skeptical.

Believe it, KROKUS dont lie never . Anyway, for shore in Switzerland you dont have to sell to many records to get a platinum record, its not like in a big country like the USA or the UK. I can hardly wait for a new album because HOODOO, HELLRAISER and ROCK THE BLOCK are amazing albums with cool heavy rock songs on it.

Okay, "platinum" in Switzerland is 30,000 copies, that seems reasonable. Didn't even think about that aspect.

I'm familiarising myself with this band nowadays, playing their older material chronologically. Thry're gonna be retired again before I reach this new album.

a new track:
On February 22nd Krokus will release their 17th studio album entitled 'Dirty Dynamite' and have posted a music video for the first single and title track.
For almost 40 years now Krokus has stood for high-quality, honest-to-goodness, hand-made power rock. No other Swiss rock band sells albums and its back catalogue worldwide like Krokus. The band has already sold over 14 million records, toured the world and received gold and platinum record awards. The milestones in their rock career are dotted around the world: from Australia and the USA to Canada, Mexico, Russia, Japan and China
But it hasn't all been one long "high": death, sickness and internal strife have pushed the band to the brink of collapse. The story of Krokus is like no other. Dotted with highs and lows, sell-out stadium concerts and sweaty club gigs, these five musketeers of rock have outlasted trends and survived treacherous US managers, tough splits, bad deals, shady lawyers, drugs, awful fast food, endless bus trips, disco, grunge, grotesque record companies and double-dealing advisors.
Today they are back in their classic line-up -- Marc Storace, Chris von Rohr, Fernando von Arb, Mark Kohler, and Mandy Meyer -- and are stronger than ever on their new album 'Dirty Dynamite'. Guest musician Kosta Zafiriou plays drums on the entire album. The band spent a whole two years working on the new album under the watchful eye of bassist and original founder Chris Von Rohr. "We didn't spend all that time on golf courses or tennis courts. No, we just wanted to make the best album yet, the magnum opus of the new Krokus era" says the hit producer. Guitarist Mark Kohler has this to add, "This is not just another Krokus album. I think we have definitely passed another rock milestone with this record."
To reach this goal, no expense was spared. The band booked into the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London. Krokus went back to their roots, back to where it all began with the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, the Free, the Who and the Bluesbreakers. Back to where the band headlined concerts in the Hammersmith Odeon, celebrating their first international success. "The atmosphere there is very special and we wanted to make the most of that," says vocalist Marc Storace. Guitarist Fernando Von Arb is quick to add, "With Dirty Dynamite we have recorded the urgently needed dirty kind of rock that no one plays in this country."
'Dirty Dynamite' track listing: 01. Hallelujah Rock'n'Roll 02. Go Baby Go 03. Rattlesnake Rumble 04. Dirty Dynamite 05. Let The Good Times Roll 06. Help 07. Better Than Sex 08. Dog Song 09. Yellow Mary 10. Bailout Blues 11. Live Ma Life 12. Hardrocking Man

I only have a best of, Alive And Screaming, and Heart Attack. However, with Dennis Ward involved, I may have to check out the last one and the new one. I like just about everything involving my fellow Texan.

Yep, we really are old! I had to smile earlier when someone was pondering whether to count Anthrax - Spreading the Disease as classic rock as it's only a few years old. Erm well, only if you think 27 years is a few!! (I don't know why I'm laughing, they were touring that Album the first time I saw them live on my fifthteenth birthday!)

Remember back in 2011, when Krokus said they were going to retire, then decided that they were having so much fun that they said "Ehhh, never mind, forget we said that"?
Well, they really really mean it this time. The end of the road will be Dec. 2019 in Zurich.
Quote :
KROKUS will embark on a "farewell" tour next year. The Swiss hard rock veterans announced their plan to pull the plug on their four-decade-plus career in a Facebook post, writing: "KROKUS shows have always been special and should stay that way. That's why we decided to stop when it's still really good. That's how the fans should remember us.
"Unlike other bands that are on their eternal 'farewell tour,' we will keep our word and pull the plug at the end of 2019, handing over the 'Rock Magic Wand' to the youngsters."
Said singer Marc Storace: "We look forward to a grandiose 2019 'Adios Amigos' world tour with the final highlight in Switzerland."
Added guitarist Fernando Von Arb: "We have signed reciprocally contracts with each other that it really is over. We will stick to that. Every party has to end eventually."
Stated bassist Chris von Rohr: "It was an unparalleled journey with all the ups and downs rock life has to offer. Now we are looking forward to the final lap of honor and will give it our all once more. We owe that to ourselves and our fans. The 7th of December, 2019 will be unforgettable as it was on the 27th of March 1982. "

Probably. Priest and Scorpions both walked back on their "this is our last tour ever ever ever" pronouncements too.

Lest anyone thinks (or hopes) otherwise, Ozzy's not retiring either...
Quote :
Despite the fact that he recently embarked on his farewell tour — dubbed "No More Tours 2" — Ozzy Osbourne continues to insist that he is not calling it quits.
"What I'm stopping is doing what I'm doing now, going around the world all the time," Osbourne told Philadelphia's The Inquirer. "I wish people would understand I'm not retiring. Is it my bad English accent? It's called the 'No More Tours' tour. It doesn't say 'No more tours ever.'"

Always have and always will love this band; if they call it a day I am cool with that and if they put out another good release like they always have (my opine), I am cool with that too. God, I wish they would play a casino near me.

I think it means "Sharon won't allow me to truly retire from the road, EVER. I'm so bloody tired. She's got a gun in me back right now. For the love of God, HELP ME! Someone call Scotland Yard!"

By coincidence, a co-worker went to see Ozzy live the other night over in Camden and was pleasantly surprised how well he sounded. He said it was an excellent show and Zakk is a lunatic on stage. So I guess we'll be seeing the Prince of Darkness hanging around for a few more years.

Same here. A friend at work saw him last week at the XFinity Center in Massachusetts and was raving about how good the old man sounded. He has seen Ozzy/ Sabbath/ H&H a total of a dozen times and said he sounded like it was the mid 1990's again. Go figure.
