| Heaviest, I voted for VENOM here.
My personal favorite would probably still be Number Of The Beast though, that was one of the first serious albums I had

My second choice as well. Raven (deservedly) will get my vote for number one in the next pole.

| Wow so many good choices here, I voted for Metal Massacre because it opened the door for Underground Band to showcase their talent! Yeah for Brian Slagel - Life long fan - Life long friend. | |

| Even though I really love Iron Maiden's "The Number of the Beast", I was hoping for a much closer vote. In fact, I'm shocked that there is that much of a disparity between #1 & #2. I think like Priest's three album run in the the 70's poll, I believe Iron Maiden's three album run as top dog ends right here. I think '83 will obviously be stacked with even more challenges (ushering in the thrash bands), but once '84 starts, that poll will be F'ing brutal!
Anyways, I don't know that I would've chosen this album way back in the day, but I'm going with the Scorpions "Blackout". The album is stacked from top to bottom, and of course it has the great "China White" on it.
Second, I'm going with "Creatures of the Night", as it was my first experience with the band KISS, as it still is my favorite in the KISS catalog. It's gritty as hell, and I don't think the band has ever approached an album in the same way.
Third, I would probably go with "Screaming For Vengeance". Granted I'm tired of hearing "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" after all of these years, but then you have songs like "Fever", "Bloodstone", & "Devil's Child", which are great, yet are considered obscure in the sense they are relegated to those "Other songs" on the album.
Fourth, I would go with "Number of the Beast". Iron Maiden is one of those few bands who could can the lead singer, and come out shining on the other end. There are very few bands that can pull this off, and for that, one has to give Maiden their due. As much as I prefer Di'Anno's voice with Maiden, I believe that Dickinson took Iron Maiden to that next stratosphere, a place that I'm not sure Di'Anno could have taken them.
Fifth, I would pick Whitesnake's "Sainte and Sinners". The last album before commercial success would take this band over. God, this is a great album. I'm sad to say that it took me so many years to discover this gem.

| I have to agree with metalinmyveins, as much as I like D'ianno I do not think they would have gone to the next level as they did with Bruce Dickinson. | |

| (IMHO) nobody could've invisioned in 1982 how metal was gonna take off. The popularity in the music was one thing but just look at some of the stage shows bands took out in 1982 as opposed to what followed.
I first saw Dickinson at Day On the Green in Oakland (May 82) when Maiden and Scorpions played with Foreigner, Heart and Loverboy. Then again the same year in September with Scorpions in Sacramento.
Neither of those shows were indicative of what was to come for either Maiden or Scorps in just a few short years. _________________

| First pic the metal massacre stuff, as it would be the catalyst for much heavier things.
Second Pic is Priest, they epitomize the 'heavy' metal. I've always found Maiden to be a bit too (Themed? melodic, not sure), but Priest always had that metal-as-phuck vibe about them.

| From the list I'm going with Priest, but my favorite album from that year is Pagan Altar - Judgement of the Dead. Another perfect year if you ask me! | |

| Number of the Beast, it seems to be the most clear cut winner among all the years that have been voted on. | |
