Hard n' Heavy 1978

I wish you had left the live albums in the poll, and included AC/DC's If You Want Blood, my 2nd favorite album of all time (behind Band of Gypsys and right before Made in Japan), I also wish you had included the 4 KISS solo albums, but that is maybe just me

I know, but the poll option wouldn't allow so many choices, so I had to delete something.

I think Double Live Gonzo is one of the heaviest and insane guitar albums to come out of the 70's.

BUDGIE - Impeckable (1978) would have been a good one to add.

Mine either. It's a long story, but I kept that album well hidden. When my mom did find out about it and asked me to give it to her, I gave her Blondie instead. She didn't know anything about music, so she bought it.

I also got a day of detention because of bringing that album into my Music Appreciation class in Junior High School.

If anybody wants to get mellow you can turn around and get the F*%$ out of here!

It was sooooo tough to pick between JP and VH, and even though I love JP's Stained Class more, I voted for the VH album because of what it brought to the metal world at the time.

voted for AC but i's not heaviest. i think i've to include Ace Frehley solo, which amazed everyone that time.
probably i'm with Rainbow.

Van Halen, totally revolutionized what was possible to do with a guitar, also an insane live show.

Stained Class for me. I like Powerage a lot but SC gets my vote.

Van Halen 1 and Powerage are upper sratosphere-phenominal, and many other albums on that list are hugely awesome.

But Stained Class is head and shoulders better and heavier than anything else on there.

Hemispheres could possibly be my favorite album ever but I wouldnt classify it as heavy or hard.

I went with Van Halen

Great year. My vote is for Stained Class but Nazareth's No Mean City has such a great heavy groove to it. Onre of theose bands you need to listen to on vinyl b/c cassettes and cds never captured their sound as well (imo).
But it's hard to look away from the influence VH had. Wow! Along with Hendrix and Chuck Berry, I think EVH revolutionized how people played the guitar.

I would have voted for Ace Frehley's solo Kiss album

Really came to down Priest, Rainbow and VH for me.

Had to go with Van Halen.

Rush - Hemispheres sheer Prog Metal BRILLIANCE ..... but it's heavy, fast, and strong....


It's a crime because Powerage is my Favorite Bon album period......

I had "Taken By Force" as my number one album in 1977, so I won't include that album. With that being said, I will vote for Judas Priest's "Stained Class"

In 1978, I had heard of a band called Judas Priest, but still hadn't heard their music. My three favorite albums from the list, at that time, were Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent and Van Halen. I picked Van Halen because Van Halen was a game changer. The rest of the albums on the list are all excellent, some classics in every sense of the word, but Van Halen was a revelation.

BTW, I love these polls Ult. Great idea. Plus it reinforces just how heavy the seventies were.

Live albums are awesome.

What do you folks think about this title for one my imaginary band would release: The Stage Is Set?
