Edguy - Tinnitus Sanctus
Thanks martinsane!!!
For me, that was the death of this band. I think that album is awful.
Here's hoping you feel differently.
Well the last really good Edguy album was Hellfire Club. I don't think Tobias' heart is into Edguy anymore - I think he's more focused on Avantasia.
I don't think that at all. Like the rest of us, he's just gotten older and his style has evolved. Personally, I think Tobias started doing his best work from Hellfire Club on.
I know most will disagree with that, but I tend to like bands more when they finally find their own sound. And usually that first album is where most fans draw the line. Edguy with Hellfire Club; Soilwork with Natural Born Chaos; In Flames with Reroute to Remain.
It's like fans can sort of handle one album like that, but no more. Because the following album is the one fans claim to be the band's worst. People hated Rocket Ride. People hated Figure Number Five. People hated Soundtrack to Your Escape.
If a band plays a typical style played by a million other bands, it's okay with fans; they'll worship a band. But if that band changes, carves their own unique niche into the mirrored walls of power metal or melodic death metal or whatever, fans get angry. It's weird.
It matters not to me whether a band changes styles as long as I still like the music. The problem with that Edguy album for me is that I listened to it with an open mind but the music just didn't stick with me. Kamelot, Sentenced, Soilwork, and several others who have changed their style have not caused me to reject them though they have caused me to have second thoughts when they release an album that just doesn't stick with me. To be honest I haven't heard Rocket Ride so I would have to hear that first before I declare Edguy dead to me.
Of course. Not everyone is like this, but in general fans of anything are pretty close-minded. I think it's the nature of being a fan.

Nice! Such an insane band. They were doing metalcore before some dummy ever thought up the term. Dwid is a bizarre dude, though.

The Storm-Eye Of The Storm
A little more pricey used than the debut (I got that for $6, this was a little over $13) but I liked that one so much it was worth it. Besides most Amazon used prices for this CD was between $17-18 so I got a bargain.

Heck yes! Another Integrity fan on the board. I just bought these directly from their distro, Humanity is one of the greatest albums, and just as bizarre.

Judas Priest-British Steel (Reissue): I normally don't re-buy albums just because they add something extra but since this comes with a DVD of them performing the album live (Flordia 2009), I did so.

I keep hoping to find that British Steel on the cheap. I can rationalize a re-buy that way.

It was about $15 at Wal-Mart which I paid for only because of the DVD, the remastered CD is just sort of a bonus disc.

Of course. Not everyone is like this, but in general fans of anything are pretty close-minded. I think it's the nature of being a fan.
I think that's an interesting observation. I'm not sure that most 'fans' see it as a band finding its sound more than a band abandoning their so called roots. I find that argument debatable. For example, while I am a Testament fan I always felt that the band found their sound more with Low than with any of their earlier albums (good as they were). But lets face it, Testament since Low have gone in a more brutal sounding direction by contrast to their earlier works which were more thrash based without any (loosely speaking) death metal influences. And I think your opinion is valid because it seems most liked Low though most disliked Demonic (which if anything is a much heavier album). However I don't necessarily think it is a rule that people will dislike all the albums after a band has 'found' its sound - most liked The Gathering in some ways much better than both Low and Demonic.
As for Soilwork and In Flames - I think Soilwork only got better because their first three albums up to Natural Born Chaos were very generic and bland sounding. Basically I couldn't tell them (Soilwork) apart from other melodic death metal bands of the mid - late 90s. When NBC came out however the band came to fruition - and I've liked everything they've released since. In fact my favorite Soilwork album is Stabbing the Drama followed by The Panic Broadcast. Most people hate those albums and I don't understand why - in fact there was so much unfounded backlash against Stabbing the Drama - some felt the album was as bad as St Anger. Some people are just stupid!

Help me!! I can't stop!!!!
I went to Movie Trading Company just to get a replacement copy of Robocop and decided to browse just one section of the rock area and ended up browsing the entire area and even checked the metal section (though most of the metal is in the rock section):
Lacuna Coil-In A Reverie (used-$5.99) Black Sabbath-Mob Rules (used-$7.99) Fates Warning-Perfect Symmetry (used-$9.99): With all the talk about this album I went ahead and got it. Could of gotten a new copy for $8.99 but opted for the used 2 CD/DVD version. Blind Guardian-Somewhere Far Beyond (new-$11.99) Blind Guardian-Imaginations From The Other Side (new-$11.99)
Then I poncied over to Half Price Books to browse the cheap section:
$1 Out Of The Darkness-Midnight Sydicate (dark ambient goth instrumentals-this would be good for relaxing music) Michael Rowe-It's For You The Choir-Kisses And Killers The Choir-Speckled Bird Rodney Dangerfield-No Respect
$1.98 In The Arms Of War-s/t (melodic death metal, not bad for a $2 though) Sacred Oath-s/t (some true power metal) West Wall-Blitzkrieg Symphony #1 (some good sounding old school death metal) A-Ha-Burning Hight And Low (nothing like some chessey 80s pop) Screaming Trees-Sweet Oblivion The Church-Sometime Anywhere
I couldn't help myself, I looked in the regular priced used CDs:
