...freebie from a Virginia-based thrash/crossover band who asked me to review it on my blog. First spin impression: cool, fast, snotty/sarcastic stuff, kinda has a GWAR/Municipal Waste vibe with a guy who sounds a hella lot like Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys) on vox.
The return address on the package said it was from the "Celine Dion Fan Club," which caused some hilarity when I got home from work on Wednesday. My wife was like "You've got mail on the table...I don't even wanna know what it is."

That Dustin Thomas track is interesting. At first I was annoyed by his voice but it sort of grew on me as the song went on.

He opened for John Butler Trio on Wednesday, did a short five-song set, and blew everyone away. He had a full band with him, so the songs were more powerful. I had no idea who the opening act was and when he started singing I was convinced it was a girl. Then, when a light shined on a small sign on stage with his name, I figured he was a transgender (i.e. born a girl, now a man), but...nope, just sounds a lot like a girl. Haha.
Anyway, seems that most of this stuff is solo acoustic work, but I dig that sort of thing so I'm sure I'll enjoy it. I was really impressed with the live show, though. Bought four CDs at the show, ordered two more from his site, and then grabbed the digital stuff from his Bandcamp page.
