| If I were to categorize the four corners of the Metal World, I'd pick Japan, Europe, Britain (UK) and North America. Question is, what is Popular in Metal Music in any of these regions/markets, Does it affect your or give any influence to the choice of Music from any of these places?
Extra: South America could another global scene, maybe. it can part of North America, what do you think? Or is it a fifth?(5th)

| I am definitely influenced if a band is from Scandanvia, the hotbed of glam/sleaze bands. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I don't give a hoot where a band is from and it makes no difference when it comes to purchasing music.
I have bands from all over the map in my collection. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Let me clarify. I don't really care where a band is from but if it's one I've never heard of and they're from an area where I know I like a lot of bands, I'm more inclined to give them a listen. For instance, if Band A and Band B are both new to me and both are supposed to play sleaze metal, if Band B is from Scandanavia, I'd listen to them first. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I don't put much thought into it. It might be kinda cool to hear for example a killer thrash band and think, wow, this is great music coming from [Country X], but that's about as far as it goes. I wouldn't discount a band just because of their country of origin. At least I don't think I would. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. I tend to discount Italian power metal bands because I know there's a high probability they'll have a singer who sounds like his nads are in a vice. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Being from central America. The vive from metalheads there is very extreme, the metalheads there that u can recognize on the streets are into black and death metal. But there is plenty of great metal bands that sing on Spanish, and have their own style of rock and metal. Metal gods like Angeles del inferno, rata blanca, Barron rojo, transmetal are a few of great bands from te central and south of America. My all time favorite rock and metal bands from that are in Spanish are caifanes(later named jaguares). Heroes del silencio, Angeles del infierno, and rata blanca. | |

This thread started me going through my music library and researching the band's countries of origin which causes me to change my post. Germany produces a lot of music that I listen to. South America does not but there are a decent amount of them (i.e. Tribuzy, Sepultura, Almah, Amos, Angra, Dynasty) and there were a few from Spain I mistook for South American bands. I should replace my origional post with Germany and the northern European countries (Sweden, Norway, etc.). But of course in the end it really doesn't matter, good music is good music no matter which country it's from.

Italian? No problem. Power Metal? No thanks. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | I don't really care where a band is from as long as the music is good IMO. I like northern european metal, German metal, Brazilian metal , US metal, and even Italian metal. Labyrinth, anyone? Anyway, Power, thrash, glam, death, it's all good.

I'm the same,...Often I look where they are from, see how I could possibly see them LIVE. Good Metal, doesn't matter to me where its from.

| It is neat though when you get an album from a band in a country not normally associated with metal. Like when I got a CD from Turkish metal band Pentegram. I've been to Turkey and it's hard to believe any metal bands come from there, epsecially one as good as those guys. | |

Check the Lebanese metal scene. Interesting acts, especially a grindcore band called Oath to Vanquish! There is also a great band from syria called the hourglass.
