| Alot of bands, imo, put out some incredible debuts, then never quite re-capture that magic again on later stuff. Other bands get better each time. Any debut lps/eps come to mind that were the best of a particular bands catalog [please keep it to bands that have 2 or more releases - there have been an assload of one-and-dones over the years].
A few that come to my mind right away are:
Dangerous Toys - S/T Overkill - Feel The Fire [yeah, that is JUST my opinion] Tora Tora - Surprise Attack Sanctuary - Refuge Denied [including EVERYTHING Dane did after] Roxx Gang - Things You've Never done Before Megadeth - KIMB&BIG Death - Scream Bloody Gore S.O.D. - Speak English or Die
I am sure more will come to me. |

| I will go with this:
Omen - Battle Cry -> the barbarian rawness, proto-thrashing and Iron Maiden mix has not been replicated on the rest of their albums. Not saying they are bad but this one is TOTAL classic.

| I'm sure some death metal purists will hate me for saying this, but Scream Bloody Gore is Death's weakest album, IMO. Their best are Human, Symbolic, and Leprosy, in my opinion. | |

I am far from a Death Metal Purist. It is just the album that sounds like PURE F'ING DEATH to me. Chuck got talented after that and it was not quite the same for me, personally. You could say the same for my Megadeth pick, which I KNOW will be butchered in thread by all the Mustaine-fanboys around here. |

Got to say, I personally wholly degree with that. I think Megadeth outdid themselves several times afterwards. Anyway, I can only think of Appetite For Destruction off the top of my head, honestly. In pretty much all the cases mentioned, I prefer the records a few down the line. _________________
