"Toolbox Murders" ...silly slasher crap about a psycho picking off residents of a run-down apartment building in Hollywood, using various common household tools (hammers, nail guns, electric saws, etc.). It was OK, till for some reason a supernatural sub plot was shoehorned into it in the last half hour.
Avoid.

The Hitcher remake. Man,did I hate this movie. The only redeeming value of it was Sean Bean as the title character (a psychopath who surpisingly didn't have a quip nor a one liner after killing someone).

The original "The Hitcher" was great. Rutger Hauer makes for a great bad guy.

I think I saw that one. Sounds familiar.

It was on SyFy Channel last night. Apparently it's a remake of an old horror flick from the 70s which I've never seen... after seeing this retread I have no interest in seeing it, either.

Oh, I might have seen the original. Didn't know of a remake. Back in my "pre-children" days, my buddies & I would take turns hosting "Bad Movie Night". Pick a laughably horrible movie, order pizza, drink beers and do our own retarded version of MST3K. Watched allot of shi*ty movies that way. Good times.

I agree. The remake was totally dumbed down. I laughed outloud at the stupidity of the hitcher taking out the police force with his Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am (especially shooting a helicopter out of the sky with a pistol from a moving vehicle-somehow shooting the pilot in the head).

"The Ruins" ...pretty cool horror flick in which a bunch of American twenty-somethings on vacation in Mexico decide to spend the last day of their trip exploring the remains of a Mayan pyramid in the jungle. Unfortunately said pyramid is home to a particularly nasty creeping vine/plant infestation that's carnivorous in nature. Predictable chaos ensues.
Though I didn't have high hopes for it at first "The Ruins" turned out to be a decent, fast moving, gory flick that kept my interest throughout....a worthy entry in the under-utilized Killer Plant Genre.

I got it cheap ($4) from the bargain DVD bin @ Walgreen's....I'd say I got my money's worth. Not only are there some cool gross-out scenes, but the blonde chick is a piece of a$$ and she's not wearing much for the first fifteen minutes or so of the film... Haha.

"Cop Out" -- buddy cop flick starring Bruce Willis and the slightly irritating Tracy Morgan as two dimwitted Brooklyn detectives who get mixed up with goons from a Mexican drug cartel.
A pretty typical action comedy (think "48 HRS"), it was nothing to shout about but overall it was an entertaining way to kill 90 minutes.
