well well mein mann! It is good you enjoyed teh comps. I've been doing nothing but work and band stuff for like 3 days but I've gotten through 2 out of 3 of yours at least. I must say there are a few oddities in your synopsis though. Swap-A-Comp - The Reviews! - Page 2 Icon_razz First, don't deceive people into getting Vanishing Point stuff by saying they're Helloweenish... Swap-A-Comp - The Reviews! - Page 2 Lol Many shall be angry. However, if they are looking for great melodic rock infused, sort of down to earth power metal, such as maybe a faster Magnitude 9 or the like, they will be pleased. Second, you really had it coming with the Lantlos since I saw that you own the first Lengsel album. Swap-A-Comp - The Reviews! - Page 2 Icon_razz But you can still listen to the first half of the song since it's all clean vocals. Finally, I must say that I don't know why you wouldn't want to own 'Return to Heaven Denied' like NOW after hearing 'Lady Lost in Time'......especially since you own Stratovarius and Labyrinth is similar but with x3 guitar, x3 progression, x523678484753 vocal skill, etc...but oh well. I wonder if I should have put 'The Shooting Star' from the new one on there instead, go check that out on YouTube. The other song has Fabio Lion on vocals so I thought you'd find that interesting to hear. Smile

The Gordian Knot album is quite varied and I think would definitely be a good purchase..

I listen to death/black in rare rare occasions now. I still have a lot of it but its in a box somewhere. Razz

I actually owned most of the LAbyrinth catalog at one time. Its not that they are bad, but they just dont do much for me. I find them to be rather generic power metal. Sometimes I like generic power metal but this band is not it.

The best part of the comps is I have a whole lot of bands to check out. I want to listen to the comps again. I enjoyed them.

I'm listening to the comp I got from troublemagnet.

Quite a few tracks with vocals I don't like (too much "screaming") but there is one clear winner already. Grand Magus. I love this song.

Will post a more in-depth review in a bit.

PostSubject: Re: Swap-A-Comp - The Reviews!   Swap-A-Comp - The Reviews! - Page 2 Icon_minitimeSat Aug 14, 2010 10:03 am

CD 'Metal' of teh exactz33 compilation:

1. The Last Vegas - Whatever Gets You Off..... Hard rock/sleaze track to start things off.... I think this is clearly kind of a tribute/retro sort of thing.......but it doesn't sound as forced as say the accompanying trends in the new thrash stuff, and some of the new NWOBHM stuff. On paper, a good song, certainly appealing to fans of the style, but for me, while it's a fun thing, I don't really get the itch to replay it and replay it and replay it. Vocalist does an exceptional job here.

2. Steevi Jaimz - Don't Say It's Over...well, Mr. Jaimz sounds a bit strange on this one, to me.. The verses I'm almost certain are lifted from 'Volcano Girls' by Veruca Salt, though it probably isn't on purpose...Generally I'm not digging the vocal mix either...a lot of stuff about his singing here is kind of getting to me, not in a big way, but it isn't really driving things the way it hints at at times.

3. Pertness - Seven Times Eternity... ok, now exact had claimed Labyrinth was generic power metal....... that isn't true if one goes through their disco (except for 'Sons of Thunder', can't excuse that one).....but it REALLY REALLY REALLY is of this band. Swap-A-Comp - The Reviews! - Page 2 Icon_razz Wow. So, drum machine is tripping over itself, guitars are..where are they? Ok, cool harmony here for a few seconds but..... Seriously br0ski, get 'RTHD2' and get back to me. Also, a perturbed Elmer Fudd on vocals on this song. Not even kidding, 'Morrtaaal men are doooomed to die!' in full-on Wabbit killing voice. Absolutely hilarious. All of that being said, the chorus is a pretty monstrous hook, GREAT melody there. This band just needs to.. put that in a better song, get rid of the drum machine, turn up the guitars, and Fudd needs to hold back his excitement a little bit..

4. Powerwolf - Saturday Satan.....woo! Favorite song so far. Powerwolf is a cool band, the sort of thing Dream Evil could be if they weren't so stooped in suck. This band opened for Rage recently, that must have been a good show. BUT their lyrics are idiocy (not necessarily referring to this song, but some of their other stuff), so I probably won't be buying anything.....

5. Hardcore Superstar - We Don't Celebrate Sundays.... So I've heard it said how this is another rising star of the sleaze revival, I'll tell you though, and this will sound crazy - I actually hear a lot of later Clash in this song. This is sort of what would happen if you put 'Combat Rock' and 'Girls, Girls, Girls' in a blender. The attitude here is lowbrow by design, but not because they are trying too hard or anything, so it gives a better, looser feel to this song than the other sleaze stuff I've heard on the CD so far. Cool song.

6. Gemini Five - Babylon Rockets.... This reminds me a ton of another song and I can't really pick it out at the moment. I noticed that the hard rock/sleaze tracks selected here all contain the bells/tambourine percussion thing. Swap-A-Comp - The Reviews! - Page 2 Icon_razz exact33 thinks it's good, but it needs more bells/tambourine. Swap-A-Comp - The Reviews! - Page 2 Lol I'm kind of middle of the road on this one. Do not dislike, but probably don't need to replay.

7. Lord Byron - Holy War.... The lead guitar sounds like a dying giraffe. Kind of not-great songwriting... Some underdeveloped power metal... But what's this? I recognize that vibrato wail. It's Olaf Hayer! Can't he be in something I like other than Luca Turilli, though (and even then, it's just the first two albums)? Man, this is all kinds of everything people hate about European power metal. They hear something like this and then take a soapbox on every band.

8. Red Circuit - Homeland.... It's Red Circuit, the prog metal/hard rock band with Chity Somapala on vocals. On paper, I would totally get into this and should. But I had checked out their first one when it came out a few years ago, nothing memorable. However, this song from their newest album is pretty good. I'm feeling like it gets lost a little at times, but I will keep revisiting this.

9. Sabaton - Midway.... Sabaton, the band that takes different elements of German metal that are true and classic and packages it up in an easy-to-digest modern metal box. Also see: Brainstorm. Man, I wish this band would just let it rip. See: Dark at Dawn for how to do this in this style. Good vocals, he keeps improving each album, the chorus is not bad, but man, other than that, nothing happens in this song, and the keys serve no purpose. Oh well.

10. Angra - Heroes of Sand.... A good song, from 'Rebirth', always one of my favored albums by them. Drum sound sucks, but yeah. This was never one of my favorites from the album, but still a good song.

11. Sencirow - Connection of Evil...Sort of dark-ish power metal not entirely unlike Powerwolf on track 4. However, while Powerwolf can get me \m/, this band needs the little extra thing that makes them individual and gets their song spirited...right now it's just kind of there..

12. Crazy Lixx - Blame it on Love.... Warning! Entering pop-metal ballad territory! But! Aside from the blatant Motley Crue reference ("It's the same old situation.." gag!), this is not bad. This sort of reminds me of Mastedon in parts, definitely from that school. I probably wouldn't be in the mood to hear this a whole lot, but I can say if something is good/bad with little bias.

13. Burning Black - Purgatory Child... 80's heavy metal collides with a bunch of synths and a screaming, strangled cat. Really, as a singer, it hurts to listen to this dude, not because he is off key or whatever, but just, thinking of what it must feel like to make that noise he makes. Generally, not too bad, but melodically this is lacking, and cat guy isn't all that cutting in the mix, so it's even more painful to hear. Brutal.

14. Legend Maker - Story....Onward/Toby Knapp was wise to collect Michael Grant on vocals from this band. Play-it-safe USPM that doesn't seem to grasp the purpose of the style in the first place. Guys, does the production suck enough? Count out the dual solos again to make sure we're at the minimum. Let's take absolutely no risks at all save for this little piano part which does nothing. Above all, let noodly guitars completely take over everything and interrupt the flow, if any, whenever they feel they must do so. And this is 11 minutes. You know, there's times I get what they are going for here, but this is metal that bores. Worst song on the disc because Lord Byron's track wasn't 11 minutes worth of itself.

15. Olympos Mons - Seven Seas.... This band wants to be Dragonland but this song is not as good as anything on 'Starfall' or 'Astronomy'. Not unmemorable, but it just doesn't CLICK. The playing and composition is arousing no passion. The number one pitfall of any band I ever listen to that doesn't do it...... songwriting not as strong as it needs to be. It's never a bane of vocals, mix, guitars, whatever, the bloody songs are just always half baked, that's what grounds otherwise good bands.

PostSubject: Re: Swap-A-Comp - The Reviews!   Swap-A-Comp - The Reviews! - Page 2 Icon_minitimeSat Aug 14, 2010 10:20 pm

second exact33 CD.. 'The Great Variety'..

1. Black Bonzo - Lady of the Light.... We have some neoprog and some rock 'n roll here...did someone say Hawkwind? Uriah Heep? Golden Earring? You're getting the picture... but this band doesn't seem to feel the need to drag along the negative aspects that particular decade tended to instill in bands...so this has a refreshing feel to it. Dig the prog break in the middle, took some guts to try and pull that off, although it's a little TOO sudden a transition (better than say, Opeth though), and whoa, gratuitous 'Echoes' reference (not that it would ever be necessarily bad to recall one of the BEST SONGS EVER RECORDED). Cool band and song.

2. Slipstream - You'll Never Catch Me Out Again...Clear Brit-pop/'lad' band kind of thing. Trace a line from 'Please Please Me' through 'Yes' through any number of Echo & The Bunnymen albums and flip through the pages of this song. That being said, I don't particularly enjoy some of those chapters.. this song is fairly catchy, but completely unrelatable for me, I must say...I don't know if I remember a time in my life I've felt whatever is coming across here..

3. Dawn - Dawn... More neoprog is not a bad thing. Moogs, oh-so-tasty moogs, mmmm. Weeooo weooo weeoooo. Great vocals, digging this song, this is well put together. It's only 5:10? Where's the rest? This just totally cut me off, too bad. I have a feeling they have some better songs, some longer songs too. Hopefully. Will check out more.

4. The Ocean Blue - Cerulean... now, what's going on here...Little dashes of U2..little dashes of prog.. and.......... oh, so, contentfully happy and pleasant. There's nothing wrong with happy music. It's just that THIS happy music isn't intense neither very introspective, it's just kind of... it's like when, you know, those really gleeful songs from Rush where you just know they were reefing to the moon when they were being written and beyond that you're not quite sure why it's so blissful sounding... yeah, that's how this is. I need a new term for this kind of music, air-conditioner rock maybe? Pretty indifferent, probably won't come back to this..haha.

5. Moon Safari - Doorway...YES! MOON SAFARI! The hugely hyped prog band with one of the best names I've ever seen, and that album whose name I can't pronounce. Now I must make a note of this band; this prog is so joyous and sweet that it makes Yes sound like Burzum. And yet their songwriting just won't go away when you get into it. I think I'm getting a cavity. I can't really fathom what would possess a band to put something so unabashedly sunny, flowery, and relaxing together, and neither can I fathom how it can turn out decent the way this is. I mean, happier power metal, there's a ton of things to always feel "f*** yeah!" about, - slaying the evil forces in righteous violence, getting the girl, generally being a strong warrior, and sometimes there is just a big huge double rainbow all the way to flip out over. This on the other hand, I'm just convinced the room is ablaze with gum-scented incense laced with opiates. Great instrumentation here, and you can tell the band just loves the heck out of what they do, that's something a lot of bands lack. All that being said, the instrumental portions in the middle stick to my brain more than the vocal lines do, and that should be remedied.

6. Mr. Reality - Waiting For September... Light-hearted acoustic rock with a contemporary feel is the rule of thumb here.... Radio ready and radio worthy in every way, but in a personal sense, it doesn't hit me too hard. The chorus vocals achieve a really great sound, wonder if it's the whole band doing it or?

7. Litmus - The Machine Age... Once again: Hawkwind! This is from the more frenetic influence of that band, though.... Barely sang vocals with heaps of reverb..buzzing stuff everywhere... garage rock basslines abound... halfway through we have 'Interstellar Overdrive' injected with the Ramones... The Machine Age! something something it doesn'tmatterI'mseeingmylifeflashbeforemyeyesmanwoooo!

I think it's good, but I don't know yet if I'm really really into it or not. Cool to hear something like this though.

8. Weed - Before I Die... If this is the same band I'm thinking of, they have one of the worst album covers of all time, and I've never thought of it in those 'worst covers' threads, but now I need to make that mental note. This is pretty bland rock from the early 70's.. featuring Ken Hensley, easily the standout of the track. Goes into a nice prog/psyche romp halfway through, enough to make the song not COMPLETELY suck.. Man, before that though..that singer is BORED...

9. I have no idea what this song is because I can't find anything on it. His paper says Kramer - I Believe. I do know that this song rules pretty hard. This is some anthemic 70's rock without a proggy slant, and without any of the fluff associated with the medium. Sounds super European, and check out that extended guitar freakout. Cool stuff here, yes.

10. Anekdoten - The War is Over...here's some obscure sounding prog that makes me think of things like Caravan or maybe Carol of Harvest.... not very memorable, though...

11. Farflung - Unborn Planet... Fuzz rock from yesteryear... kind of on the repetitive side though, the writing isn't shining through much..

12. Votchi - Screaming... this is something like a more interesting Wolfmother... with more prog...but something is really irritating about this.......

13. Kingfisher Sky - Hallway of Dreams... Here we have some classic prog influence colliding with the more 'commercial' of female fronted goth metal (to be clear: Within Temptation and that sort of auditory vomit, not old Nightwish, or more dark goth bands like Darkseed, Paradise Lost et al)... Lovely voice she has, no cliches there.... it gets heavy and all fall down. What was the point of that? Make this band into a chamber/prog act and keep her and they would be great. As it is, when she starts cooing and it tries to be heavy and the drums are noisy and ...ugh. No. Laser's Edge of all labels put this out? What in the world???

14. Haken - The Point of No Return.... the last stand of the neoprog stuff for this disc! Let's see. Unfortunately, this song is a mess except for some great piano and band interplay in the middle. What are the heavy guitars doing there? Meh... super choppy, awkward sounding prog with nothing going on..there's a line or two that almost does something (is it any wonderrrr that she's out there alooonnee) but then says LOL, GOTCHA, and dies. Outro is done well, how come most of the rest of the song wasn't interesting? Oh well.

Awesome! Sorry I didn't mention I got yours as well. I listened to the first cd this weekend and some of the second. I skipped through the other 2 just to see what was on them. Hopefully by the end of the week I can listen to it all.

Glad you liked the packaging. I wanted to do something cool. I kept messing up though, thats why some look a little different from others haha. I saw a video on youtube on how to do that. Thought it was cool.

Holy crap, looking over this disc all very electic and all (at least to me) feature obsure bands. I am going to listen to SAHB disc a few more times before I post a review and start compiling a list to include on the disc I make him.

Despite the fact I own close to three thousand CD's I don't really have any rariities or anything really obsure.

I should be doing a review soon of atleast the first 2 discs. I was going to listen today but I got the new Maiden and ... well... we know what happened. haha

Toho Studios CDR review:
1.Kiuas-"On the Winds of Death"-Power metal meets Gothenberg melodicism. Not bad.

2.Dream Evil-"Chasing the Dragon" -Really bad cheesy european power metal. Those poor dragons are all ways getting harrased.

3.Dark At Dawn-"One Night Fall"-Melodic Metal with gruff vocals. It's okay-sorta epic sounding like Amon Amarth.

4.Babylon Bombs-"Jaded Heart"-Sounds like Skid Row, sorta. "Bar Band" rooster Rock. This is the kinda stuff that thrash metal rebeled against in the '80s.

5.Angel Dust-"Cross of Hatred"-This can't be the thrash band that put out the classic"Into the Dark Past"?!! Yes it is. It's very hard to be objective about this-I love their first album-this is keyboard laced melodic metal. (I'm begining to notice a theme here). Not my cup of tea, though it's funny that the CDR I sent Toho also has Angel Dust-"The Gambler" from "Into the Dark Past"...

6.Astral Doors-"Cloudbreaker"-Wow, the singer is a dead-ringer for Dio. Not bad,has a terrific guitar solo.

7.Gotthard-"The Other Side of Me"-This sounds like a cross between White Lion and Ratt. Sounds like something a stripper would dance to. Not exactly Nile ya know? I didn't know bands still played this style.

8.Hollenthon-"To Kindom Come"- Yes this is good. Reminds me of a heavier Turisas, with female backing vocals. Symphonic metal with deathly vox, though not as sinister as Bal-Sagoth, who play a somewhat similar style.

9.Bobnoxious-"Ain't No Holiday"-This is Bob Reid from Razor's "Shotgun Justice"?!! This is nothing like Razor....Sounds like Twisted Sister...This is more pop orientated.

10.Brainstorm-"Inside A Monster"-Finally, a band that I'm extremely familiar with. I have "Soul Temptation" and consider it a minor masterpeice. This is more of the same, aggressive power metal with an excellent singer. Excellent song!

11.Gemini 5-"Scream For Me''-Toho, you're killing me with all this powermetal. Heloween-esque chorus, not too bad , sorta catchy. I'd like it better after a bottle of wine.

12.Sabaton-"Midway"- Lyrically Vapid naval battle song. "Midway!" (the chorus) sticks in your head and makes you giggle.

13.Sentenced-"Cross My Heart"- This is sorta depressing, but I like it. Almost gothic sounding...You can feel the singers pain in this one. Did his girlfriend dump him for his best friend or something?

14.Sister Sin-"Outrage"-I like this. Like Skid Row "Slave to the Grind". The female singer, Liv,has a powerfull voice with a nasty edge.

15.The 69 Eyes-"Back In Blood" Uuughh. Next.

16.Sideburn-Oh god this is horrible. Then again, I DETEST AC/DC, so it's not suprising I don't like this-Give me some Jackal any day over this.

17.The Wildhearts-"Only One Hell" With a band name like that, I guess it's not gonna sound like Slayer. This sounds like bad Poison or maybe a lost song from the "Top Gun" movie soundtrack.

18.Warrior Soul- "I love you" I'm somewhat familiar with this band, but I can't believe this singer is supposed to replace Eric Wagner. It's allright not too memorable. I never liked their debut, so I'm not surprised I didn't like this.

19.War Machine-"Eye For an Eye" I like this. Has a nice Megadeth/Slayer riff through out with typical power metal vocals. Nicely Arranged, good songwriting.

20. KMFDM "Juke Joint Jezebel"-I've heard KMFDM before..."Money" was it called? "Angry"? Anyways, this is not the hard KMFDM that I remember, this sounds like Nine Inch Nails with a soul filled "African American" female chorus. I hate this.

Well, Toho thank you very much for the CDR. Now I know what you like, I have a good idea of what you like to listen to. Please don't take my criticism the wrong way, YOU didn't make this music. My favorites were Hollenthon,Brainstorm, and Sister Sin.

Heres my review of CD 1 from Chewie.

1. Kevin Gilbert- Suit Fugue (Dance Of The A&R Men)- What a way to open a cd haha. Never heard of this guy so I looked him up after hearing this, even though I really didn't care for this. He was a songwriter, musician from California. He died at age 29 in 1996 from Autoerotic Asphyxiation. What a fun way to go lol. Anyway this song is like an acopella kind of thing about a guy getting a record deal. It was funny but other than that nothing I would listen to.

2. Anvil- American Refugee- Decent song. Probably not one of my favorite Anvil tunes though. I finally got into this band after seeing that movie last year. Been hooked ever since. What a pain it was trying to track down all their albums.

3. Y&T- Hang 'Em High- Heard of this band for years but never heard much about them from anyone so I never took the time to listen to anything. This song is pretty good. Nothing blows me away. Typical 80's hard rock. Not bad, maybe I'll listen to what else they have. I wasn't completely sold but I did like it.

4. Armed Forces- Hard As Nails- Never heard of this band before. Somewhat of a thrashy tune. Didn't really care for it too much but I didn't hate it either. The vocals didn't really do much for me, but I would like to hear more.

5. Atomic Opera- For Madmen Only- This band sounds a little like Kings X and the vocalist sounds like Gary Charone from Extreme. Nothing really stood out with this song to me.

6. Battalion Of Saints- Hell's Around The Next Corner- This is somewhat of a punk sounding band. Its not bad but I'm not really huge into punk. The few bands that I do like this doesn't give me the same feelings.

7. Comma- Clown- Never heard of this band. Sounds like a progressive power metal band similar to maybe Pagans Mind. Sounds pretty good. I really like the music and the vocals aren't too bad.

8. Craig Goldy's Ritual- Eye For An Eye- Like most of the stuff on these cds I haven't heard of this. The mix of this album reminds me of Kiss' Asylum album. Sometimes the way the guy sings even reminds me a little of Paul Stanley, but the music is more in the vein of Axel Rudi Pell. Not bad but nothing spectacular.

9.The Cult- Soul Asylum- When I was listening to this in my car I was really getting into the song. I looked at the song list and saw that it was The Cult. For some reason I was always against listening to The Cult. I didn't hate them but just didn't really think they were that good. This song changed my mind a little. I always thought the singer had a great voice.

10. Damn The Machine- Fall Of Order- I've seen this bands name a few times but haven't heard the music. I really liked this song. The part with the drums doing the double bass and the guitars are kind of settled back really made a cool feel for the song. I'll have to look up more.

11. Danger Danger- Still Kickin'- Heard of these guys but again not the music. I really liked this song. I don't know how I let them slip through the cracks. I went searching online for some of their stuff but a few of it is a bit pricey. I'll get a hold of something eventually I really liked this.

12. Def Leppard- Good Morning Freedom- When I was younger I was a huge Def Leppard fan. Forget Eyesore, I was a bigger fan than he was lol. I never heard this song. Maybe if I would have heard it back in '87 I would have liked it but now nothing I hear from these guys new or old can impress me anymore. I still buy their stuff but I'm basically done with this band.

13. Dirty Penny- Midnight Ride- Never heard of this band. They are similar to Hardcore Superstar. I even hear some Motley Crue. but this vocalists is even more annoying than Vince Neil, is that possible?. Sorry music is cool but the vocals killed it.

14. Dominici- Hell On Earth- Who would think this guy would have ever been heard from again after he was out of Dream Theater? Then he comes back many years later to put out some pretty heavy albums. Even sometimes giving Dream Theater a run for their money. I have one of his albums but I'm not sure if this song is on it or not. Pretty cool song. Lyrics are a little wierd but since when does that matter in metal?

15. Exodus- Telepathetic- Ok.... Where the hell did this song come from? I love Exodus, but is this on a single or a soundtrack to something? I have all the albums but couldn't figure out what this is off of. This is also how I like and remember Exodus. The new stuff is ok but I miss Souza.

Note* Just did a search to see what this song was on and its on the remastered version of Force Of Habit. It should have been on the actual album. Damn bonus songs!

16. Galactic Cowboys- Circles In The Fields- Just started getting into these guys. I was able to get all the albums without spending too much money through swapacd. Pretty good band and I don't know why I never liked them earlier on when they were still around.

17. The Gathering- Strange Machines- I've heard of this band but never checked them out. After hearing this song I know why. The music is basically like older Within Temptaion but I really don't like the vocalist. She isn't bad but at times she just seems kind of whiney. I've heard this song somewhere else before, maybe it was on someone elses compilation.

18. Harem Scarem- Voice Of Reason- Heard of this band as well but like always I never check anything out unless someone talks about it. The first time when I just skipped through the song for a quick listen I thought it was pretty good and even my gf thought so (which was surprising) the next day when I fully listened to it we didn't feel the same haha.I don't know what it was but I wasn't into it. It had potential though so maybe now I will check out some other stuff of theirs.

Ok got 3 more cds. I'm halfway through disc 2 so maybe I can get that one reviewed later on today. So far not too bad Chewie

Ok finished disc #2 faster than I thought heres my review.

1. Infectious Grooves- Therapy?- I like Infectious Grooves. Got a few of their albums including the one this song is off of. For some reason this song is annoying to me now. Maybe its just Ozzy constantly saying THERAPY! I still like them though.

2. L.A.P.D.- Listen (Do What I say)- The name of this band sounds familiar but don't know why. Either way never heard the music. They reminded me a little bit of older Prong but just not as good.

3. Loudness- Dream Fantasy- I've heard a few Loudness songs but nothing that really made me want to pick any of their albums up until I heard this song which I thought was really cool. So maybe I'll check out some more of their songs to see if I feel different. Is this song even in english though?

4. M.A.R.S.- Nations On Fire- Pretty cool song. Sounds like 80's power metal. Sort of reminds me a little of Scanners Hyper Trace with the way that it sounds. Vocals are different though. Not a band tune I'll have to look up some more of these guys.

5. The Mob- One Track Mind- This song is really cool. At first it sounded similar to a Dio song. When the vocals kicked in they sounded really familiar and its Doug Pinnick from Kings X. Really liked this I'll have to pick this up.

6.Motorhead- White Line Fever- I like Motorhead. A few years ago I picked up all the double Motorhead albums with all the bonus tracks and live songs. I never thought Motorhead would sound so sloppy live. Maybe it wasn't their fault and just the way it was recorded but I don't really care for live Motorhead.

7. Panram- Rats- Not a bad song. I liked it. Sounds like it was released in the mid ninties especially with the lyrics being about politicians. That seemed to be the topic of the 90's in metal. Pretty cool song though.

8. Pantera- Power Metal- I never understood why this album just wasn't re-released. Same goes for the other albums even though I know they are horrible, but just release everything. The die hard fans would love it. I would also like to get a copy of this album and not have to pay out of my nose for it because I know I may or may not like the whole thing but this song is pretty good and the guitar playing and music isn't too far from Cowboys. The lyrics might be a little corney but so what.

9. Pink Cream 69- Condemnation- I really liked Andi Deris in PC69. Games People Play is probably my least favorite album of theirs though, but not before the horrible album called Change. My favorite song off this album is Some Days I sail.

10. Place Vendom- Cross The Line- I was excited to hear this album when it came out so of course I had to get it because of Michael Kiske and also Dennis Ward (which I seem to like anything he does) Awesome song. Makes my hair stand up on my arms hearing Kiske's voice doing this kind of music again.

11. Platypus- Standing In Line- Always wanted to check this band out because of Dream Theater. Now that I finally got to hear it I don't like it haha. I don't like that old sounding keyboard effect which all bands like these seem to use.

12. Raven- Wiped Out- So this is what Raven sounds like? In ways they sound like Blue Oyster Cult on this song in that part that I think might be after the chorus. I have no idea what they are saying. They aren't what I thought they would sound like. Don't really like it.

13. Slaughter- Trailer Park Boogie- I thought I was the only one who liked slaughter here haha. Not one of my favorite slaughter songs but its not that bad.

14. Threshold- Days Of Dearth- This song was kind of boring. Funny thing is I've heard a song that sounds almost exactly like this but its better. I wish I could think what song it is.

15. Steel Dragon- Crown Of Falsehood- I wasn't expecting this band to sound like this by the name. I was expecting power metal but this is more sort of like Cathedral or maybe even Black Label Society or Grand Magus. Its ok but the squeels with the guitar kind of get annoying after a while.

16. Animal Bag- Everybody- At first it sounded like Ugly Kid Joe or Living Colour just not as good. Didn't like the lyrics and the song was kind of corney.

17. My Sisters Machine- Love At High Speed- This band sounds similar to older Alice In Chains and I guess that shouldn't surprise me since the vocalist played guitars in AIC in the 80's. Even though they are similar they just aren't as good. Not bad though. I just read that they reunited in June for a Layne Stayley tribute show.

18. Alice In Chains- King Of The Kats- I have the box set but this song isn't on there. Where is this song from? I don't think its one of my favorite AIC songs but its not bad. If I never heard this song I wouldn't have missed it.

19. Stone Temple Pilots- Piece Of Pie- Same goes for this song as the AIC one....

Yea definetly. I like them both equally though. Great stuff. I think Kiske has gotten over his soft rock phase atleast for the time being.

Is that that band also known as Love And Peace Dude aka the guys from K0RN before Jonathan Davis joined the group? I had heard that they were a wanna-be Red Hot Chilli Peppers type band.

That's an early demo track from when the band were still unsigned (and may have still been going by the glam-style name "Alice N Chainz")... I have a bootleg comp of a bunch of their demos with that song on it.
