Anyone heard of this early death metal/thrash band formed by ex-DEATH guitarist Rick Roz? Sitting here listening to "Tyrants of Death" and they sound like a combination of Slayer, Venom and early Death (duhhh!). Just curious if anyone knows of this band or this release?

That album is a compilation of demos. They have a 1991 full length, From Beyond, generally viewed as their best full length, and a 1992 EP, Inhuman Condition. Their 1996 full length, Promise, is generally viewed as one of the biggest sellouts in metal history, although I have never heard it.

My brother was a HUGE fan of this band in the early 90s, never got into'em my self. He saw them at one of the early Milwaukee Metalfests (1991 or '92, I forget which year) and he still speaks of it in tones of awe to this very day.

I freakin' LOVE their album From Beyond! One of the best death metal albums ever, if you ask me. It's rather simple as far as riffs and drumwork goes, but I think that is part of the appeal.
Rick Rozz has GOT to be the WORST lead guitar player ever though.

Great band, I have the 'from beyond', 'inhuman conditions', 'promise', 'above and beyond - live in germany' and 'tyrants of death' cds from these guys.... they're amazing. 'Promise' was pretty different from the rest of the stuff they released. Don't listen to it that often.... I have a copy of 'tyrants of death' for trade if anyone is interested

I bought Scott a copy of From Beyond for his birthday last year, and he quite enjoys it.

I discuss Massacre's album Promise (one of the worst albums ever made by a good band) in my new YouTube video, which I will upload tomorrow.

I had forgotten about Massacre, I am from Tampa, Florida, the so called death metal capital of the world, I have seen several death metal bands live but somehow missed Massacre, and never bought any of their albums, but I am going to change that very soon.
