| A short best of because I haven't pulled these out in years. These tracks stand out in my memory though. I think MM IV was the last one I scored. By '84 we were trying to get on a Metal Massacre. "Captive of Light" - Malice "Death of the Sun" - Cirith Ungol "Fighting Backwards" - Pandemonium "Kick You Down" - Malice "Hit the Lights" - Metallica "Live for the Whip" - smurfette "Lesson Well Learned" - Armored Saint "Aggressive Perfector" - Slayer "Piranahs" - Medusa (my personal fave) "Speed Zone" - Zoetrope "Rod of Iron" - Lizzy Borden |

| I used to get these up until the sixth or seventh one. I liked 'em discovered a lot of cool bands from these albums. I missed the first one, I didn't know that was where Black and Blue or Ratt got some space. They were a different style than most of metal blades bands.
Warlord was a dang good band from that period. | |

| man, I havent heard these in maybe 20 years. I had MM 1-9 (I had the first 5 on picture disc LP's). From what I remember most of the best tracks were by bands that went on to bigger things like Overkill, Metal Church, Metallica, Slayer, etc... Like you, I used these as a springboard to purchasing albums if I liked the track(s) that I heard from here like Detente, Zoetrope, Malice, Obsession, Fates Warning, Savage Grace, Dark Angel, Possessed, and tons of others.....and the afforementioned big bands. Back in the early to mid 80's MM made a HUGE impact in feuling the metal scene, even on me way up here in Alaska. Me and by friend would call eachother when we got the new MM and we would race over to the others' house just to hear the brand new Metal Massace album to find a a few new bands to love!! It was awesome!! | |

| How weird this topic is I was just thinking about this the other day and was gonna burn them all to mp3 form for my Ipod. I have the whole set on cd all from Metal Blade. I happen to come across this on a site not sure what site it was and the price was like $40 for all the cds and the box so I bought it. Glad I did it is quite rare nowdays. Wargod49 | |

| I just got all these recently. Or up to number 9, at least. I need a few that came after. I know Forte had a killer tune on number 11, I think. But since I just got all these, I can't pick. Some great tunes on them, though. Sexist stands out, only because while researching them I came across Letchen Grey, and that little EP is killer. |

| bummer, I just looked in the jacket of my original Metal Massacre with Ratt and Steeler and there was no vinyl inside. Gonna have to go on a hunt. My collection only goes up to VI (all vinyl...no cds) A lil help....on number two... I recall a rumor that Marty F. of Megadeth played on the song "heavy metal virgin" by Aloha. Any validity to that at all ? | |

| Mine would be a 3-Disc collection best of/box set. There were some great bands, artists and songs to come out of this series. Some of the most well known musicians saw their first songs put out to the public on the Metal Massacre collection. The list below almost reads like a who's who of heavy metal and thrash.

"Heavy Metal Virgin" - Aloha – 3:01 14. "Aggressive Perfector" - Slayer – 3:29 15. "Armagedon" - Tyrant* – 5:14 16. "Let's Go All the Way" - Virgin Steele – 3:12 17. "Hell Bent" - Znowhite – 1:49 18. "The Last Judgement" - Trouble – 5:03
DISC TWO 1. "Speed Zone" - Zoetrope – 2:41 2. "Screams from the Grave" - Abattoir – 3:24 3. "Rod of Iron" - Lizzy Borden – 4:29 4. "Torture Me" - Omen (3:26) 5. "Condemned to the Gallows" - Voivod (5:09) 6. "Call on The Attacker" - Attacker (3:35) 7. "Death Rider" - Overkill (3:52) 8. "Soldier Boy" - Fates Warning (6:20) 9. | I would just go with V. Lots of GREAT stuff on the other ones, but I wore that tape out in '84. I think I could recite every word of that album, even now! Jesters of Destiny should have done more. |
