I read a rave reviews on the W.E.T. and Avantasia albums on a few blogs raving about their album (or albums in the case Avantasia) but I am unfamiliar with both bands.

Yes they are a great band.

Favorite era would be 1968-1978. They've managed a rather hit or miss existence since that time.

However, they are still one of the best live bands I've EVER seen.

I listened to this today while I was cleaning. I really liked it! Finally they are back! The songs still aren't as catchy or singable like the first few albums but with this one every song just has so much energy that you really don't need all those singy chorus'. They really did deliver the goods on this one. I really like track 4. I don't have the cd in front of me but I know its the 4th song. I remember them talking about doing more songs in that direction but the record label didn't see that it would fit with their style. Finally they were able to just do it and I think it sounds awesome. If they could add that a little more often on the next releases that would be great.

I have and i agree with you. It is nice to hear them being Rhapsody again.

Indeed! I really like the funk influences they brought in. It made thrash so fresh. I also think Death angel invented "acoustic thrash". Listen to "Veil of Deception". It's totally acoustic, but it keeps the delivery and attitude of thrash.
