Riot is an awesome band. I'm a fan. However, for me nothing they did ever touched the grandeur that was "Thundersteel". They had magic with that album that didn't really preceed it, or follow it. | |

| I was in sixth grade in 1981 and was just starting to get into rock/popular music at the time. AC/DC were all the rage so even though it's not on the list I'm gonna put in a write-in vote for FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK, WE SALUTE YOU. Out of the albums on the list, Judas Priest's "Headin' Out to the Highway" from POINT OF ENTRY was one of the first videos I saw when the then-new MTV channel was added to my cable system so I dug them right off the bat (along with Saxon, Pat Benatar, and other early '80s favorites like Loverboy and REO Speedwagon -- haha!). Remember when MTV was actually sorta underground and cool in its infancy, rather than the evil corporate demon spawn that it is today? _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| What a great year for music...and an important year for me.
The album that had the most impact on me was MOVING PICTURES. When I first heard Tom Sawyer on the radio I bugged my Mother until she relented and bought me the LP. I then proceeded to wear it out in fast fashion. It really is a touchstone record and one of the best of the 1980's.
I could have just as easily voted for Mob Rules, Killers, FIre Down Under...all classics...but Rush gets the edge this time. |

| Motley's Too Fast...I've had that one since high school. Upgraded to cd and had the entire band sign the cover when I meet them a few years ago. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

I did not know that. Is it possible to go back once you've voted? I don't see that option. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

I did not know that. Is it possible to go back once you've voted? I don't see that option. I added the "cancel vote" function to the post. You should be able to cancel your previous vote and re-enter as you see fit. |

| Groovy. I'll still claim Motley as #1, but I've also added Raven, Priest, Ozzy, Maiden, Leppard and Sabbath to my votes because I own those albums. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. I like all the ones on the list except for Venom and Anvil. Went with Killers as that's one of my all time fave albums.
1. Iron Maiden - Killers 2. Judas Priest - Point Of Entry 3. Def Leppard - High 'N Dry 4. Rush - Moving Pictures 5. Riot - Fire Down Under 6. Saxon - Denim & Leather 7. Ozzy Osbourne - Diary Of A Madman 8. Raven - Rock Until You Drop 9. Black Sabbath - The Mob Rules 10. Thin Lizzy - Renegade 11. Rainbow - Difficult To Cure 12. Motley Crue - Too Fast For Love
Not on the list that are great:

| I picked Blizzard of Ozz in the last pole, and I like Diary of a Madman even more than Blizzard, so it gets my vote. I also voted for Mob Rules because it's (in my opinion) the last really good Black Sabbath album. | |
