I couldn't choose between four of them. So voted them all.

I like some of the others, but not nearly so much. Like someone pointed out, "Killers" is not the best Iron Maiden album. So normally I'd have voted Maiden as well, but not in this poll.

Venom - Welcome to Hell (the album that started thrash. flame me if you want to, but it's true biatch!!!)

Saxon - Denim and Leather

Rush - Moving Pictures

almost included Motley Crue's "Too Fast for Love". But it doesn't quite stack up to those 4.

Foreigner - 4 ( One of my fav 80's release by one of my fav bands )
Journey - Escape ( Dont Stop Believin' )

Yeah, those are probably my favorite metal albums from 1981.

For non-metal album of 1981, I'd have to say best one is "Speak and Spell".

Depeche Mode ushered in a whole new breed of music with this album. Though they were not industrial, they influenced the whole industrial spin-off genre.

Actually, they were the first band to use 'samples' in their songs.

So they were to the alternative / synthpop / industrial scene ... what Venom was to the thrash scene.
