| I agree with Cliff, but then again I consider Appetite one of the best Hard Rock albums ever
What would be cool is if they re-released it and included a bonus disk of stuff from their club days, they did alot of covers Elvis, Stones, AC/DC that would be cool IMO

| Compared to what was comming out out L.A. at the time, Poison etc... it was excellent! It had a rowdy AC/DC or Nazareth vibe to the music. I thing the first GnR, Cinderella and Tesla albums were more of a Bluesy hard rock nature than the surrounding glossy hair metal of the time. | |

| wow, seems like all the admins and mods hate GN'R here, like a taboo thing around here...... As for AFD, I would take "Shadow of Your Love" over "Anything Goes", but overall, no album is too long if you like all the songs....so perfection must be recognized!!!!!! | |

Don't get much more perfect than Appetite. One of the greatest metal albums ever. I can't see changing anything. I'm also one that looks down on albums under 40 minutes in general. I like them around 45.

| I ended up getting Appetite initially due to the trailer for the Clint Eastwood movie The Dead Pool. They used Welcome To The Jungle (without Axl's vocals, it was somebody elses?) and I thought it sounded like such a killer song with that riff. Of course in those days there was no internet to answer who it was. So I would ask every record store clerk I could find if they knew an album with that song. I guess from the trailer I deduced it was called Welcome To The Jungle. I had just about given up or forgotten when in one of the local free metal mags there was a review that mentioned the song. Actually had a hard time finding it since it would be many more months before Sweet Child O' Mine hit.
I think the album is fine the way it is. I don't love it or play it anywhere near like I used.
Count me in for thinking UYI should have been one album. Then much further down the line release the rest.

There few and far between, but yes....I like the longer ones too. I know they have a tendency to sometimes have more filler but as long as its killer filler....so be it. There's nothing more disappointing than a absolutely shredder of a new CD that ends in 28-30 minutes! I HATE THAT!!! And I hate that feeling of wanting more immediately! Case in point, BTA - Terminate Damnation. 55 minutes of pure awesomeness. And don't even get me started on ripping songs they couldn't spread out to at LEAST 3 minutes. Nothing more frustrating than a blistering riff they created that lasts a whole 2 minutes!

| My attention span tends to crap out at around the hour mark, so albums that are 50-55 minutes long are just about right for me. I came of age when an "album" was nine or ten songs, nowadays some bands release CDs with fifteen or sixteen songs on 'em and that tends to drag after a while.
I guess because CDs can hold up to what, 80 minutes of material on 'em, some bands feel the need to fill EVERY minute of it regardless of whether they have strong enough material to do so. Just because you CAN doesn't mean you HAVE to. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

My cd copy of Appetite still has the little sticker on the jewel case "Featuring the song 'Welcome to the Jungle' from Clint Eastwood's The Dead Pool". I know I saw the movie years ago, but I didn't know it wasn't Axl's vocals used. Are you sure of that? I know Jim Carey played the roll of the rock star that was murdered. They didn't let him supply the vocals, did they? _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| I remember a couple metal heads in my high school wearing the AFD shirt that had the raped girl on the street with "Guns 'n Roses was here" rattle canned on the wall behind her. It was like a revelation to them once they figured out they were going to get sent home for wearing that shirt. Now they could go smoke weed while mom and dad were at work everyday! | |

| Speaking of GNR songs in movies, the first time I heard "Sweet Child' O Mine" was in the cheap horror flick "Bad Dreams" (a "Nightmare on Elm St." ripoff starring Richard Harris as a not-quite-dead religious cult leader pursuing Jennifer Rubin of "Nightmare on Elm St. 3: Dream Warriors" fame), where it played over the end credits. This was quite a few months before the song was released as a single and went on to take over the world. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Hey, that's a good B-movie! Oh yeah, it's a good movie, but it's one of the least subtle ripoffs I've ever seen. Richard Harris' character was running around a halfway house for the mentally ill (same as "Nightmare 3: Dream Warriors") killing off people in their sleep and he even had burn scars on his face for cryin' out loud. Wes Craven shoulda sued their hindquarters off. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"
