I like SOME Justin Timberlake just a few songs
I wouldn't call U2, Midnight Oil or REM "lite". They are not metal, but that does not automaticaly make them lite. I love them all, by the way, and Madonna as well. However, I don't consider them "guilty" pleasures, because I do not feel embarrassed for liking them. They are all great bands and musicians.
My guilty pleasures are probably soft rock... especially from the 70's. I have the entire TimeLife "Singers and Songwriters" collection, and I have to admit I listen to it quite a bit.

But there is shame in putting a bland picture of yourself on all your albums, Phil. Nobody wants to see your baldness.

Listening to one of them today. Rod Stewart. I hate the disco stuff but I really dig his older music.

I love his first solo record. It's absolutely stunning IMO. I also like a lot of his work with Genesis up and through Abacab. After that it went a little to radio pop for my liking, but even then there are a handful of songs I still like.

I'll occasionally take a break frrom the usual hard rock and heavy metal and go to the old classics. Sinatra, Dean Martin or Louis Prima and some swing music.
Wouldn't say I feel guilty about it, but it's been known to raise some eyebrows when I mention it around my wife's friends who only know me as the guy always in black that plays that "headbanger" stuff. F*ck 'em.

You disco fans were obviously not in your "partying years" when that "sound" was actually popular.
Take it from an oldster who's clubbing prime occurred during the disco era, if you liked any form of hard music during that period, your chances with the opposite sex were next to nil unless you pretended to like that crap.
I still happily proclaim that disco STILL sucks!!!!

I prefer the "didn't happen" scenario.

That does give me flashbacks. My parents used to listen to S & C along with America and Gordon Lightfoot.
Summer Breeze, makes me feel fine, blowing through the jasmine in my miiiiiiiind.
Dang man, i'm almost tearing up.

Gordon was always on the stereo in the early 70's. He also wrote a lyric that basically sums up my existence.

I like listening to Motown....The funk brothers were an amazing cast of musicians. I dig me some Haight/Asbury bands and the late 60/early 70 country rock bands like The Byrds, Poco, Flying Buritto Brothers, Commander Cody & The Lost Planet Airmen, New Riders Of The Purple Sage and The Eagles.

I don't see anything to feel guilty about in that list of artists!
