- Speaking of which, has anyone else noticed that in the few music retailers that are left, the old fashioned "cut out bin" seems to be a thing of the past? Years back I used to get tons of tapes/CDs from those bins and made some GREAT finds on the cheap, there was one in every record store. Nowadays they're rarer than hen's teeth!!
I know! I used to find some pretty good deals in those things but about 10 years ago they started to dissapear. I think that used CD stores have taken over that function (which probably doesn't do you any good if your town has no used stores). Over here we have Half-Price Books and they have a whole section of cheap bargins. Also a frequent used CD store I visist often has a section with Buy 1, Get 1 Free. As for all the defects in the packaging, as long as the actual music is in good condition, I can forgive minor flaws.

Now you got me missin' MetalGuy. Yea, where the heck IS MetalGuy anyway? Ain't seen him round these parts lately. Just been lurking around lately. I haven't been my old sarcastic self recently and didn't feel the need to post my non-sense. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Ditto. When I used-CD shop I always take the disc out of the case and look at the playing surface, if it's too scratched or scuffed then obviously I leave it there, but if the disc is in good shape, I can live with a slightly beaten-up booklet or insert. I have thrown back some goodies that were just too banged up to take a chance on though. I still weep when I remember finding a copy of Trouble's S/T (1990) in a used bin, which is one of my Holy Grails, only to find that the disc looked like someone had been letting their cat use it for a scratching post and the booklet looked like it had spent time at the bottom of a lake. It really hurt to leave that one there. I havent' come across another used copy of that baby since then. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Thanks. Glad to be here. As for the topic on hand, I've bought and sold many of hole-punched, saw cuts and BMG editions. I don't have a problem with them, but when I'm buying something on-line, sight unseen, I like to know upfront what I'm getting. In my line of work, I get lots of promos from record compainies which are usually marked in some fashion, some I keep, some I trade and some I sell on ebay, but I always let the buyer know in the description. It did piss me off when a buyer on ebay left me negative feedback for a stupid Finger Eleven cd because there UPC was a hole punch through it, even though it was clearly described as such. When I asked why he gave me a negative when the listing was accurate, he said "Oh, I guess I didn't see that". Gee, thanks for ruining my perfect rating because of your ignorance, you dick. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | I have bought CD's with hole punches, saw cuts and have tons of BMG edition CD's, none of that bothers me. Usually I replace the jewel cases as far as the interests, they have to be in a readable condition, if it is bent or looks like the previous owner read it a few time I will buy it, especially if the price is good. If the booklet is waterdamaged or unreadable, even if the disc is in perfect condition I pass.

Contact ebay and send them copies of your correspondence. They will eliminate the negative. |

It's probably too late now anyway, my emails are long gone. And I believe ebay has since changed their policys on leaving negative feedback. It's a little more complicated now. This was at least a year ago, probably longer now that I think about it. I've since sold a ton of other stuff without any problems or hassles. But if it happens again, I'll certainly fight it. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was.
