New Nightmare on Elm Street trailer...

Freddy Krueger is the next 80s horror icon to get an upgrade... the movie comes out at the end of April '10.

I gotta admit, even though I was pretty well burned out on Freddy Krueger by the end of the '80s, this looks pretty interesting.

Without Robert Englund it just won't work...

Is it a remake or a new installment? Not that I care, just curious.

I'm still licking my wounds from that last Friday the 13th. I'll pass.

Damn, just when I thought Hollywood couldnt piss me off anymore.

I was never an Elm Street fan and it looks like I might just stay that way. Robert Englands Kruger seemed to have a sense of humor this new version doesn't seem like it would be anything like that and the guy they picked to play him doesn't even look close to the original. Just more proff that these remakes need to stop. The day they remake Back To The Future I will never watch newer movies again.

Thank heavens the remake of Hellraiser is apparently on hold.

I actually liked the "Dawn of the Dead" remake. That was a pretty good, nasty piece-o-work. So was the remake of "The Hills Have Eyes."

I'm not totally against remakes, it just seems like (in the horror genre at least) lately there's nothing new under the sun. They just keep sequelizing/remaking/rebooting the same movies over and over again.

Looks like they are staying rather true to the original though.

"Reboot" seems to be the favorite catch phrase for movies like these nowadays, where it may not a straight up "remake," but it's not another sequel either...

Kinda giving more of the backstory of Freddy's origin, sorta like what Rob Zombie did with Michael Myers in 'Halloween'.

Jackie Earle Haley, who plays the "new" Freddy Krueger, actually went for an audition to play one of the teens in the original 'Nightmare' movie. He went to the audition with a friend of his, who was a struggling LA musician but was considdering acting. His friend ended up getting a part in the movie while Jackie (a former child actor) was shown the door. That friend was Johnny Depp.

That wasn't as interesting as I hoped it would be.

I left out the part of deflowering virgins, animal sacrafice and high-speed police chase the night before they went to the audition. I didn't want to offend anyone.

Really though, thats completely useless in this case, as its already been done twice, once in Freddy's dead, and again in an episode of the short lived Freddy's Nightmares, so unless youre a teenager, this is a waste of time for fans of the series.

Spec, I'm having a hard time understanding just how un-interested you found that factoid. Perhaps if there was some sort of chart or graph to help illustrate your point.

...teenagers are the exact demographic this movie is shootin' for. Y'know, the punks that go to Blockbuster and don't bother to watch anything from before they were born, because it's "too old."

Yup. For about the past 15-20 years, Hollywood's main target audience has been 14 year old kids.
