Are Guitar Solos Imortant To You?

I like most solos, because usually they bring a good song into the relm of a great song, and some shredders wouldn't have much withought solo's and i like shredders! So Solo's aren't alwase needed, but usualy don't hurt in my opinion.

Love em - imagine Wait by White Lion with no solo! Imagine if St Anger and solos (well, and guitars not tuned so far down the chords are unrecognizable, a drum sound that wasn't played on the first act kit, etc) Ok - Imagine the classics with no solos!!!!!!

Yes. They are very important to me. A song seems monotonous without a guitar solo, or at least a part where the guitar is prominently featured and seems to stand out a little more than the rest of the instruments. This is my issue, and I am sure a lot of other people feel the same, with Nu-metal. The profound lack of a guitar solo, imho, really makes the music suffer.

Yes, but I don't want one on every song because then I think they lose their impact somewhat. Of course what I'm really into is the twin guitar jams rather than solos, but many bands aren't built for that.

Although i hate the whole shred wank guitar solos, you know the guys who treat guitar playing like a sport. "Hey man did ya hear Vai can play 30 notes per second, lets try and beat it", absolutley hate that way of thinking that goes into guitar solos.
