Great songwriter, lyricist, but some of them do make you go...

My husband always makes fun of the lyrics when I'm listening to Dio, but I like the fantasy themes and nonsense, it's easy to listen to.

Normally lyrics like 'like a rainbow in the dark'     would annoy me, but with Dio it just makes me smile. Must be because it's Dio.

That's what I thought, but I followed what a few lyrics sites told me.

Sounds cool but means absolutely nothing.

Not so sure about that, could be seen as no one will sacrifice for...no you're right, it means absolutely nothing!

A yahoo search yielded this;

"Nobody bleeds for the dancer would mean that no one was fighting for artistic integrity in music. You've got to bleed for the Dancer, meaning stand up and fight for artistic integrity in music. ChaCha On!!"

I think I posted these in a previous discussion about rainbows in Dio's lyrics. Here are two Dio lyric generators.

This one only does one line at time, but you can put multiple lines together to get things like

I will say his (most likely ad-libbed) line about kings and queens in Heaven and Hell is probably his best lyric. He's not a great writer by any stretch. But that line is pretty poignant.

Just because some of the meanings are questionable, doesn't mean he's not a great songwriter, I certainly think he is!

DIO CANNOT BE QUESTIONED!!!!

Dio seems to write in riddle form or something. Never been able to break the Dio code. I'm sure there is reason, he was a smart guy, I just don't get it.

We are just a rainbow it the dark..... yup, makes perfect sense.

I've always loved Dio's lyrics and phrasings. To me they are all Dio's and his alone. Wouldn't want it any other way. In fact I would never want the "Dio code" broken. It all makes perfect sense because.... well it's Dio!

Dio's lyrics were purposefully vague, and he said that many times interviews

Ken Tamplin did a version from the second person perspective (replacing all of the "we're"s with "they're"s, and it made,,just as much sense as the original (it's actually one of his rock vocal tutorials):

Not sure I get his need to change the "we to they" stuff, a little weird...
