| I pre-ordered this CD back in March before the release. I've been listening to it now for a month and it is fantastic. Gone are the inhale/pig squeal vocals from Nailed. Dead. Risen. I always thought Brooks regular harsh death growl was awesome, so I am so glad he's now sticking to that full time.
The whole CD has a much more mature sound but with that same chaotic, brutal sound of Impending Doom. I love this young band, love Nailed. Dead. Risen., but The Serpent Servant is a huge improvement and a very powerfully written CD. Especially the last 5 songs starting with "Revival America", all really tug at my soul! AWESOME! I've really been blown away by this release considering the age of these guys. | |

| Nailed.Dead.Risen was pretty brutal, but I can only take those pig squeals for so long. The production was pretty bad, but I generally liked the songs. I'll have to check out The Serpent Servant. | |

| i dont know if i should try them or not. i heard a few songs off nailed dead risen and i thought they were bad but i hear a song off the new album and i lie it....i dont know! | |

They are 100% gone. And this album is a ton more melodic as well. I thought the riffs and guitar work in N.D.R. were on the average to basic side, and because of that, I also think the guitar is very low/in the background on that album. But, with TSS, The guitar is at the front with the drums and vocals. And the song architecture and riff structure are really good and much more dominant. Like I said, their sound has matured leaps and bounds on this one. I can't stop listening to it. LOVE "City of Refuge"! | |
