On Ascetical Life - St. Isaac of Nineveh I would venture to say the advent of TULIP 'dumbed down' Calvin's writing... _________________

On Ascetical Life - St. Isaac of Nineveh I would venture to say the advent of TULIP 'dumbed down' Calvin's writing... I reject all 5 points, but then again, I'm Orthodox, that's as far away from my beliefs as can be.... but I do agree on a few views with Calvin most people are not aware: he believed in infant baptism and the perpetual virginity of the Theotokos Mary, which says a lot about him and the beliefs of modern day Calvinists.

| I mentioned previously that I was reading "Promise Me: How a Sister's Love Launched the Global Movement to End Breast Cancer" by Nancy G. Brinker. I have about fifty pages left to read, and what can I say...the story about Susan G. Komen, Nancy Brinker, cancer survivors, and those who have passed away, not only wants you to become more informed, but it makes you want to get more involved. I've run in the Susan G. Komen 5K race twice, but I now plan to make it a yearly endeavor. I promise to do my part for all who suffer from this dreaded disease. This particular book not only gives you a wonderful background on the these two women, but it also sheds light on the advances in medicine over the years, focuses on those that are at a higher risk, and talks about those whose names aren't on the front pages of news stories, who have fought courageous battles, that have been both won and lost.
A side note to this wonderful book, is that both Suzy G. Komen and her sister Nancy G. Brinker had their chemotherapy treatments at M.D Anderson in Houston, where Ronnie James Dio was treated. I didn't realize the reputation of this hospital was until I started reading this book. Being from the Midwest, I suppose one tends to hear about the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota more often.

| I've been on a Chuck Klosterman binge:
I read "Killing Yourself to Live" about a month ago, followed that up with "Sex, Drugs, & Cocoa Puffs", and now I'm reading "Eating the Dinosaur". I read his book "Fargo Rock City" years ago, which leaves me with just the book "IV" to read.
