| I'm listening to King's X - "Gretchen Goes To Nebraska" for the umpteenth time. And for whatever reason, today I'm actually liking it! I've owned several King's X albums, tried and tried my utmost to find out what the fuzz is all about concerning this band, but to no avail. That is 'til today! This album is actually quite good! Gawd, I hope I donæt like any of their other albums starting now. I'd hte to have to call myself a fan! _________________ | |

| Well, I guess I'm still not a grownup then. Seriously, I really TRIED to get into King's X back in the late '80s. At one time I had all the Kings' X stuff up (on cassette) from the debut through DOGMAN...but in the end each of the albums had maybe two or three "great" songs surrounded by a lot of fillers... I won't deny that they're amazing musicians and all, but they never did much for me other than the FAITH HOPE LOVE and DOGMAN albums... those are the only two King's X albums I bothered to upgrade to CD. Maybe it's just me...? _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I still don't get the King's X hoopla, but I've certainly had the same experience with other bands and albums. One day, it just "clicks" and you wonder what the heck took so long. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

Throw in " Tape Head" and you have all their essential stuff, if you ask me. But you can't go wrong with King's X on any album. |

Maybe it's just me...? It's just you - no filler until Ear Candy. Tape head on out has filler. | |

That's what happened with me. I owned everything up to Ear Candy. I dug some songs but didn't get the hype. When Ear Candy came out I gave up. I just thought the album was crap. So in the Air Force I sold off all their CDs. Fast-forward a number of years and I found myself wanting to hear a few songs from Out Of The Silent Planet. So I bought it again, used. Not sure what happened, but this time out I found the album to be brilliant. Wacky-weird. So I tried another album I'd previously owned. Same thing. Again and again--great albums. So I sucked it up and declared myself a fan. Now I love everything they've done to some degree, side-projects as well. Just a brilliant trio of musicians. |

| As soon as I finished Gretchen, I tried to jump on to "Faith, Hope & Love". Tunned it off during the opener, and played some King Diamond instead! There is still hope for me! _________________ | |

| When I first picked up Out Of The Silent Planet (before gretchen came out), I thought "it's OK", and the 10th time I heard it, it clicked, big time, and I was a fan ever since. There is something about King's X that takes them time to "click" - that's probably why they never hit the big time status. | |

| I liked them from the start but my interest faded after Dogman. I purchased "Ear Candy" when it came out, my recollection serves that the cover and insert are what I remember more than any of the songs Kinda / sotra psychadelic... guess it's time to dig it out and play it again. My memory of the first time seeing them in concert goes something like this. It was the "Gretchen Tour" and it was at Jezebel's in Santa Anna, Calif. A local band that did mostly Odin covers was first, second was Fates Warning and then King's X. In a corner of the club was Marc Ferrari (Keel) and Eric Carr sitting together. I went with a group of guys that included members of the band I was in and guys from Emerald, Neon Cross, Roxanne and some blonde dude from Vengeance Rising. I was impressed with how well they did the vocal harmonies live. Very tight band. A very fun evening with friends. Laterz | |
