Anyone a fan? Their first two releases (haven't heard Wait) are very good and the 2006 Just A Taste EP was very promising (especially "LOL").
Their latest, Good 2B Alive, just came out (or is about to) and it's awesome. It was passed along to me by their label (though I had every intention of buying my own) and I can't stop playing it. Matijevic's voice is still amazing and it's just great modern melodic hard rock. One of 2008's best, IMO.
I'm very surprised by how much little is said about this band considering how good the music is and that lesser known/quality supposed "hair bands" will still pop up on rock/metal news sites.

Love this band. They're another band that's far better than the single they're known for. Too bad. I have the EP they last released and dig it. Looking forward to picking up the new album, too.
Wait is also a good album.

I have the S/T (with the original cover, not the lame heart against a black background) and Tangled In Reigns but haven't listened to either in years. The guy has a great voice but the music is a little to ballad-heavy for my tastes these days.

I know it's not like the first two, but is it more like their current sound?

I have the S/T and like it well enough. I would pick up more of their stuff, but I just don't see it anywhere. I read a few articles on the lead singer and all that happened to him. Too bad. Peace.

Eh, I think Wait was pretty weak, personally. Good 2B ALive is an improvement over that, but still not what they were on those first two discs....

I'm adding their second disc to my wbsite come next update. I think they were an excellent hir metal band, and they had an awesome singer! He also did a great job on the Rock Star soundtrack.

Same here. The vocalist was pretty damn good.

Arise, Zombie thread! Back from the dead! Grrrr! Arrrgh! Braaaaaaains!
I happened across Steelheart's Good 2B Alive disc in my local Goodwill last night, so I picked it up even though I know next to nothin' about the band. Now that I think about it, I also recently snagged the Rock Star movie soundtrack there, which features Mike Matijevicz (or however the f*ck you spell his name, haha) as the vocalist of the fictional Steel Dragon. I guess a Mike M. fanboy must've dumped his collection? (shrugs)
I've only listened to the first couple of tracks but it's an OK listen thus far. For a buck 99, I'm not gonna complain too much.

I recently picked up a copy of their 1990 s/t (again) and I found it has aged better now than it did the first time around. I doubt I'll be tracking down any other Steelheart albums, but for a thrift shop pick-up, it's a keeper.

Since my last post back in '08 in this thread, I snagged a copy of the second album off the bay for like $5 shipped. I like it well enough, but enjoy the S/T more. Nostalgia? Perhaps. I will have to check out the newest release.

I just noticed that. One is a steel mill in the background of the logo, the other is plain black.
Anyone know the reason for the different covers? Was this released under 2 different labels?

One was released in 90, then it was rereleased in 91 with the black cover.
I like the first two albums but never kept up with them after that.Mike has a killer voice! I like the stuff he did on the Rock Star soundtrack as well.

I've only heard the debut and think it's great. I knew of the second release but didn't know anything was released after that one.

You guys have GOT to trust me on this. TRUST me.
Debut is killer fo sho. But Tangled in Reins is a MONSTER of a follow up. It makes the debut sound like AOR in comparison! The whole album is screamin', gritty, nasty ass wild swagger metal from beginning to end. Kind of like what Skid Row pulled off in terms of attitude and bite. It's a damn heavy album and Mike sounds like he's gonna pass out any minute. Great production, too. I always felt the debut was too pristine.
TRUST MEEEEE.

Shay, I will give "Tangled" another listen. I do remember it being heavier than the debut.

Interesting.
I think I still have that Rock Star soundtrack. Might need to revisit that one too.

Going by that recommendation, I'll have to see if I can track down a copy of Tangled In Reins.

Cool bruthas. Here's a taste--IMO this is one of the leaner cuts on the album. Which is saying a hell of a lot.

I'm 7 tracks in on "Tangled" and it kicks ass hard. Definitely a summer time windows down and sun roof open crank it to 11 album. The breakdown before the solo reminds me of the beginning of VH's "Women in Love." Great call, Corp.

Track 8 "Steelheart" has to be the fastest and heaviest thing they ever committed to tape.

Oh yeah I agree with Shay. Tangled in Reins is way grittier and heavier. The debut is polished in comparison.Heres my favorite track from the album...
