No, it just means you go through 12 grades and actually get 11 grades worth of education (assuming you attend school every day you're supposed to).

Since I've been alive, each generation has progressed and improved the generation that followed it; we all tried to ensure that the next generation would be better off than we were. Since the 50s, I think that goal has been achieved.

But the apathy and cynicism I see in your generation I think jeopardizes that trend. What I see is a generation that thinks society owes them something as opposed to going out into the workplace and earning your way to the top.

Yeah, I agree my generation has F'd up in many respects but that's still not an excuse for you to slack off IMO.

Toho I can't speak for Schbopo lives, but my kids have half days every
month, the reason Florida does this is to allow the State to save
money. This saves them millions of dollars in the course of a year.

But your kids' school year probably goes longer than it does here. At least I would hope so.

It starts on Aug 19 and ends in the last week of May, so it goes on a
little longer than yours but only by a matter of degrees, it doesn't
matter anyway the education system here is appalling. One time my 14
year old daughter didn't know Vietnam was a country, she thought that
was just name of a war, they teach these kids to pass this FCAT
test and they learn little else.

Exactly. They teach us only what's on the test so they can get their precious funding and we end up hobos living off the government.

That's just sad.

I took Advanced Placement Biology my senior year ( I was pre-med).

After my freshman year in college, I went back to my high school Bio teacher and thanked her because she had given me a great introduction to what I would be studying in college.

It's sad that it's not like that in schools anymore.

It is beyond sad it is criminal.

to be fair I imagine that much of the older genration was saying the same things about your genaration Toho, older folks tend to always say that Kids these days have it so easy. and I imagine when Im older I'll be telling all the young punks how easy they have it

I only wish I could give my girls the childhood I had, the world is a different place now, I hold little hope for the current generation.

I was just thinking about that, Hamer. I feel bad that most kids these days just waste their childhoods online. I think alot of kids will regret that later in life.

Everybody calls me the Analog Kid, I enjoy things mechanical, engines & the like. I'm trying to teach my kids the old school way of doing things but it gets harder every day. My 5 year old enjoys helping daddy change the oil in the bikes & cars. I'm trying to show them there are more things in life than computers & T.V. I'm lucky my kids have a fair dose of common sense, an atribute severly lacking in kids today. I'd rather have a C student with a good dose of common sense than an "honor" student any day.
