Nice choises. I think that Faith No More's version of "War Pigs" is great, much like the original actually maybe except the vocals. Sepultura's Motörhead-cover is great as well.

Warrel Dane - Lucretia My Reflection (Sisters of Mercy)
Nevermore - Sound of Silence (Simon and Garfunkel)
Aerosmith - Come Together (The Beatles)

Though I understand making a cover that sounds like the original, I think it means more to take a tune and make it your own, much like Metallica did with most of Garage, Inc. It speaks to the ingenuity of the band and the strength of the song.

I forgot Nevermore's version of Priest's Love Bites.

Viking's Hell Is For Children, although I like the original better.

In all honesty, I love the original version of that song (I even remember the video on music television as a kid) so I would really like to hear DaD's version.
Also, Judas Priest - Diamonds & Rust originally by Joan Baez. Priest owns that song as well as Green Manalishi. I know that those are pretty obvious choices, but two favorites of mine. I also vote for Maiden's version of Cross Eyed Mary originally penned by Jethro Tull. Peace.

totally agree with you here make it your own not try to make it as close to the original as possible. I like your 2 choices of Warrel's and Nevermores
