Everyone though is forgetting his best role and that is of player/coach Reggie Dunlop in Slap Shot. The greatest and funniest sports movie of all time. At yesterday's Flyers game, the organist played "Lady of Spain". An obscure refrence, but Slap Shot fans would get it. Ohhhh my Gawd, I totally forgot about "Slap Shot, haven't seen it in ages...one of the best sports movies EVER!! Funny you mention it cuz Sunday afternoon, VH1 Classic was re-running one of their "I Love the 70s" marathons and "Slap Shot" was in one of the segments. (one of the B-list comedians commented, "This showed Hollywood what we really want in our Sports movies. No uplifting happy endings, just vicious retards." Haha!) I officially change my comment from earlier in this thread, my fave Newman film has gotta be "Slap Shot." Damn, now I gotta go find that movie on DVD. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I was wondering when someone would bring up Slapshot. Here's a little bit of trivia. Slapshot was the only movie that Gene Siskel of Siskel/Ebert at the movies changed his review on. He originally had given it a thumbs down, and then figured out what a meathead he was and changed his review to a thumbs up. I remember hearing that story on Carson or Letterman years ago.
I absolutely love Slapshot!!!
Killer Dave Carlson and the Hansons rule!!!!
"Dave's a killer"....."Dave's a mess" I'm late on this thread, but R.I.P. Mr. Newman. | |
