Stolen from Blabbermouth...
Rob Zombie has completed work on the long-delayed WHITE ZOMBIE box set. In a posting on his MySpace page, he writes, "Well, I am now holding the finished newly master WHITE ZOMBIE box set in my hands. Yes, it is done! A long time coming but it is here. I'm not sure what the release day is yet, but it shouldn't be much longer. I'm pretty you'll be getting under your Christmas tree. All I can say is boy the early smurf poo is whacked. I haven't heard some of these songs in over twenty years. I don't know what the hell we were thinking. Everything is including on this set. Over 4 and 1/2 hours of music plus tons of never before seen videos. Five discs in all."
Rob Zombie recently spent time in the studio working on material for his next studio album. Zombie wrote in a May 2008 online posting, "Well, we have for the first time ever written more songs than we need for an album. Everything isn't 100% finished, but everything is moving along great."
Zombie's next studio effort will follow up 2006's "Educated Horses", which was his third solo CD. He also released his first concert recording, "Zombie - Live", late last year. Although he's still apparently committed to making music, Zombie recently told Metal Edge magazine that the record labels are "dinosaurs waiting to die."
I'd be interested in this. Rob always puts out quality material. Even if all the music isn't up to snuff, I'm sure the packaging, booklet and videos will be cool.

The packaging alone will probably get me to buy it.

Keep listening to that one. I hated it at first, but it grew on me. It's almost a thrash album. It's very weird. But despite it's out-of-tune nature, Rob's whiney vocals, and the crap production, I dig it. The God of Thunder EP is where they really hit their stride.
Pre-Make Them Die Slowly is pretty bad, though. Don't expect gold with this box set. Rob is doing a cool thing here, I think, but he's releasing material that 99% of others bands would never release, they'd rather bury. But I think it's a cool thing to do.
If you've never heard the early Zombie tunes, check YouTube. They sound nothing like the band most everyone knows. Rob sounds like he's a 9-year-old girl. Haha.

But in the earlier stuff he doesn't end every line with "Yeah". Great googly moogly that's annoying.

I think he still says Yeah a lot. Either way, I don't find it annoying at all. I think it's part of what makes them so unique, and it works. I guess if you scrutinize everything it could be annoying, but it does't impede the music or the songs in any way, in my opinion.

Eyesore I didnot discover White Zombie til they got famous, with " La Sexocristo" first time I heard " Let Them Die Slowly" to say I was surprised, would be understatement. It is night and day when you compare their early material to the material that made them famous. I will give it another shot since it has been years since I have spun that cd.

I get what you're saying here, but I think that's pretty much a given when you're talking box sets. Generally speaking, box sets are for the most die-hard of fans that want to hear everything put to tape, good, bad or indifferent.

The first time I heard them was on a Caroline Records sampler. Their cover of "God of Thunder" was on it. I loved it. By the time I'd heard it, though, that album was out of print. I bought it because of an unreleased Primus song that was on it. Anyway, a year or so later La Sexorcisto came out and I loved it. I became a big fan immediately.
That's when I went back and picked up Make Them Die Slowly. I flat out hated it. I couldn't believe it was the same band. Then years later I gave it some more spins and found myself really liking it. I think with better production and a heavier sound (vocals and guitar), it would be a great album.
Then I bought bootlegs of the Psycho-Head Blowout and Soul Crusher. There's some decent songs and parts of songs, but overall they're pretty bad. They were a popular band back then, so I guess there is some appeal there. It's just not my thing. I have acquired those early albums and EPs, though. Rob's artwork and lyrics are so cool.

I saw that. Weak. That doesn't include everything that White Zombie has ever done, like Rob claimed it would. The two extra tracks from the cassette version of the Gods on Voodoo Moon EP aren't included, nor are all the never-released songs (which are all over YouTube). That's kind of lame.

Well, I'll buy it, too, but I was hoping for everything considering that's what he said it would include.

For those who have never heard this early stuff, check it out:
Crazy. But here's where they started getting good:
Same song. The second is a remake with J. on guitar. Very different, much heavier, and has that "true" Zombie sound.

Pretty cool to hear about this. I've always liked the majority of White Zombies stuff. I've had Make Them Die Slowly for years, and made CDR copies from the vinyls of Psycho Head Blowout (I recommend this one out of everything else, for whatever odd reason, it seemed to have the best production out of all of them), Soul Chrusher and God Of Thunder. Problem with the early stuff is though, theres scattered good songs, but they never really tried to evolve their sound until God Of Thunder came out. Im really disappointed to see the two extra songs from Gods On Voodoo Moon are missing however.

Never was a big White Zombie fan but I like most of Rob's solo stuff (except that last one, WTF?)
Only WZ I own is Astrocreep plus a single of Thunderkiss.
I may check this out.
