Great for Lou and his album, but it would be nice if Lou and Mick got back together for one more go around. I'm holding out that same hope with Journey/Steve Perry. Unfortunately father time is not on either of these groups sides.

My favorite Foreigner song is "That Was Yesterday". It's just a real moody/kind of dark type of song for Foreigner.

I would not hold my breathe on either reunion, Lou Gramm and Mick Jones aren't exactly the best of friends, and Lou Gramm's has had a few health issues.

Steve Perry has stated that he has no desire to record for a major label or touring, and Steve Perry feels that name Journey should have been retired after he left, where Neal Schon and Johnthan Cain obviously disagree, but this reunion is more hopeful since neither party has ever completely ruled it out.

I definitely agree with both your summations regarding the likelihood of a reunion. I've seen the "Behind the Music" special on Foreigner...and it's obvious that those two don't get along, health issues of Lou totally aside. That's where you wish that these two guys could just put differences aside, and do it for the fans. Hell, the Eagles have been able to do it. Everyone and their mother knows that Don and Glenn don't get along, even though I think their is a deep mutual respect that one has for the other.

As far as Journey goes, the band and its name will always belong to Neil. It's his band, and he can do what he likes with it. LIke you stated, Steve doesn't have any plans to rejoin, but he's never said never when it comes to a possible reunion. The rest of the members of Journey have said Steve could come back whenever he wants. I think it was wrong of Steve to ask the band not to do the Journey thing anymore. They have every right to make that band their livelihood. Just because Steve said he's done, isn't fair to the rest of the band. What are these guys going to do if there wasn't a Journey??? Journey outside of their families is their lives!

I liked the first 3 and Agent Provocateur the rest are kinda meh. Joe Lynn Rainbow sounds a lot like 80's Foreigner only better.

YES!

Quote :
By Edna Gundersen, USA TODAY
Foreigner's triple vision for its upcoming release? A three-disc set of new music, remixed hits and live performances.

Can't Slow Down, due Sept. 29 on Rhino Entertainment, unveils 13 new songs produced by Marti Frederiksen and Mark Ronson. The title track is a nod to NASCAR and the band's appearance at this year's Samsung 500 in Texas.

A second CD remixes such classics as Double Vision, Cold as Ice, Urgent, Hot Blooded and I Wanna Know What Love Is. And the set's DVD culls performances of hits in 5.1 surround sound, plus footage from Foreigner's current European tour.

The collection will be sold exclusively at Walmart for $12. The band launches its U.S. tour July 30 in Morristown, N.J.

This is great news for me. I have been wanting a full album from this current lineup for forever. Kelly Hansen is just as good as Lou Gramm, IMO. That is saying alot.

I'm really trying to like Foreigner. I got kinda sick of irrationally hating them. Out of the songs I downloaded illeg-uh...I mean, "borrowed from the internet" , I like "Hot Blooded" and "Juke Box Hero". "Cold as Ice" is just okay, and "Double Vision" is tolerable.

Eventually I might break down and love them, but right now it's not looking too good for Foreigner.

They might as well break up then. Try as they might, they will never attain the excellence quotient that your brain allows for bands such as "Primus" and "Grand Funk Railroad".

I'm just giving them a chance, that's all. I felt guilty for letting Boston, Foghat, BTO, and all kinds of similar bands into my "Pantheon of Awesomeness" while leaving poor Foreigner out in the cold. I like some of their stuff. If I see one of their albums for a relatively cheap price, maybe I'll pick it up and become a lifelong fan.

Oh, and you don't diss Grand Funk. It's on now. :starwars:

I am glad to see Foreigner have recorded an album of new material with their current line up, I have a live album they did with Kelly Hansen line up (Extended Versions) and it sounded great, and Hansen sounded at home, better than Johnny Edwards who did one Foreigner album in the 90's.

Like Spec looking forward to the album.

I saw Foreigner on the "4" tour in 1983! Foreigner - Page 2 505193

Some people automatically hate bands like this because of how "calculated" they can be...while I suppose I can understand some of that argument...if the songs are good and the band plays well, who really cares? Foreigner was very solid musically...and hell, they even had Ian McDonald from King Crimson in the band!

I listened to the radio constantly from 1976-1983, Foreigner was a hot ticket item for a long time. They also possessed the "class" that many of the bands riding their coattails lacked.

Yep. There's a reason they are still around after 30 years. They will never be talked about in the same light as a Zeppelin or Sabbath, but in my house they are just as great as those aforementioned bands.

I think Foreigner made a huge impact, a bigger impact then they are given credit for and I still say that they were huge influence on pop metal/hair metal that exploded in the 80's.

For my good friend Spec:

From VH1 Radio's Dave Basner
FOREIGNER SET WILL BE WAL-MART EXCLUSIVE

We recently reported that Foreigner’s next album will be a three-CD set called Can’t Slow Down. According to Billboard, the package will be a Wal-Mart exclusive. When the set comes out on September 29th, fans will only be able to get it at the retail giant. Can’t Slow Down features a CD of new music, a concert DVD and a best-of collection.

The Foreigner exclusive will be Wal-Mart’s first major exclusive since October, when AC/DC released their wildly successful Black Ice through them.

There was a short piece on this show in yesterday's paper. It said something to the effect of "relive the days when arena rock bands still had more than one original member, and actually played arenas." Laughing very hard

More info on Foreigner's Walmart exclusive CD release:

FOREIGNER CAN’T SLOW DOWN WITH NEW ALBUM TO BE AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY AT WALMART

Three-Disc Set Combines New Music With Album Of Remixed Hits And DVD Legendary Group To Tour North America This Summer

LOS ANGELES (July 30, 2009) – Foreigner, one of the world’s most popular and enduring rock bands, will release a new three-disc collection, including a CD album of all new music, a CD album of the band’s original hit recordings, and a DVD of the band in concert and beyond. Foreigner’s latest will be available from Rhino Entertainment September 29, exclusively through Walmart, for $12.00.

Twelve tracks on the new album are produced by Mick Jones and Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith and Buckcherry), with celebrated Grammy®️-winning producer Mark Ronson (Amy Winehouse) contributing the Mick Jones-penned “Fool For You Anyway.” The title track, CAN’T SLOW DOWN, was written by Mick Jones, Kelly Hansen, and Marti Frederiksen as a tribute to NASCAR in celebration of Foreigner’s appearance at the Samsung 500 at the Texas Motor Speedway earlier this year. NASCAR fans bought so many CDs that day that Foreigner’s 2008 release No End In Sight:The Very Best Of Foreigner was propelled back into the Billboard Top 200.

The collection’s second disc contains 10 remixes by Marti Frederiksen and Anthony Focx of some of the band’s most well known songs, including “Feels Like The First Time,” “Cold As Ice,” “Urgent,” “Hot Blooded,” and “I Want To Know What Love Is.” The remixes bring a new energy and sound definition to these classic songs.

The DVD captures the band performing many of its hits live in 5.1 surround sound. The DVD also contains performances filmed during the band’s recently completed European tour. Also featured is a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of CAN’T SLOW DOWN, from writing sessions in New York, Nashville, and Los Angeles to the Walmart shareholders meeting where the exclusive partnership behind this project was finalized.

Foreigner has sold more than 70 million albums worldwide. The band will commence a 45-show headline trek across North America today.

Bump

I am listening to Foreigner's Unusual Heat the only album to feature ex King Kobra vocalist Johnny Edwards. As much as I am a fan of Foreigner, this album seems to be missing something, I know it is not just Lou Gramm because I actually like Foreigner's current singer quite a bit.

The songs do not seem to be as catchy as heartfelt as their earlier albums, it is not a terrible album but not one I reach for very often.

Anyone a fan of this album? If you are what am I missing that you are hearing?

Bump again...

Mick, Kelly Hansen & Jeff Pilson were on the Howard Stern radio show last week. I'm not much of a Foreigner fan, but they did sound good. They played 2 acoustic songs, a classic (which I can't remember now) and a track from the new album.

I also caught a little of them on VH1 Classic the othr night. For what it's worth, I thought Kelly Hansen handles the old Lou Gramm material quite nice.

I noticed too that Jason Bonham was not behind the drum kit. Don't know who it was, but it was a younger long-haired dude. Guess Jason has moved on. Foreigner - Page 2 436688

Nice!!! The VH1 Classic is the same as the DVD in the 3 disc package of the new album. Jason left to maybe do the "zepplin" thing. Kelly does a great job!!!

I'm a little suspicious about that concert though. Kelly's vocals sounded a little "too perfect" for a live performance. No drop-outs or cracking at all, even when he's moving around the stage. Eh, whatever. It was entertaining for the half-hour I watched. Good for them, keeping the dream alive.
