| Just watching some old clips of them from the early 90s and Bas was on fire. What a performer. I have their first 3 cds, and like them all, but am not a huge fan by any stretch of the imagination. But, I'm guessing they would've been nothing without Bas. Your thoughts? |

| i'm sure they would have made it but probably not at the same level, no. Bach was a big part of the band. _________________ | |

| They wrote great music back then, so it is conceivable that they could have found a great singer in someone else. Bach, however, has always had a unique voice. So who knows how big they would have been. |

| Bach is what did it for them back in the day, but I do think that the rest of the band was good enough that they would have been successful with whoever they ended up with. I saw them then and I have seen them several times with Bach's replacement Johnny Sollinger and he does a great job. I have to admit that I did get pretty sick of Sebastion's crap back in the late 80's but was and still is a heck of a singer. What impressed me the most about Skid Row is that they seemed to get heavier as their career progressed instead of caving in to record company pressure to wuss out with an album of "Power Ballads". "Slave to the Grind" kicked major butt in my opinion. | |

| It was Bach's good looks that got them on MTV and the rest fell into place. Their debut and Slave to the Grind are not typical hair metal, I think they are great albums, but since Bas was a "pretty boy" they were dumped into a subgenre that didn't fit their musical output. |

| No way. They wouldn't have been anywhere near as big without the help from Bon Jovi/Doc McGee either. | |

| No. I don't think they would have made it to the heights they did if they did not have Bas at the mic. | |

| Bas has so much charisma that it would have had to have been someone pretty special. The man has huge pipes and great range. He's an ass but a talented one. |

The band in general or Johnny's singing? Just the fact thye labelled it "The Original Skid Row", then sent the scab out there. It was before my internet days, so I had no clue they didn't even have Bas. |

Yeah, that's some pretty lame marketing. I haven't bothered with the Solinger albums, because I've heard they're pretty average, but I wish them well. On the other hand, I think Baz's Angel Down was really, really good and I'm happy to hear he's already working on a follow up. JUST SAY 'NO' to a Skid Row reunion!

| They probably would've been recognized, but I doubt many hits would've come out of it or wide recognition. SKID ROW was one of the instances where the voice is such an important part, to do it with a different vocalist just wouldnt of worked. | |

| Bas was THE lead singer of the 80's/90's as far as that style of music goes....a lot of people compare him to David Lee Roth at his peak with Van Halen. He had the looks, the sound, the charisma, the attitude...everything. The guy is STILL a monster performer, even without the rest of the band. His new disc proves that. Arttie | |

| Definitely not. And just to start some more controversy, Guns N' Roses would've been nothing without Axl. Actually I do truly believe that. | |

| Plus he was real good at creating controversy which actually turned people I know unto Skid Row. Remember the "Aids Kills..." t-shirts and bottle throwing incident which got them a lot of press. Those records were great, but Bas' antics (and looks) helped sell them as something more than the rest of the pack. | |

| The latest version of Skid Row is crap which proves that Sebastian was a key member in their success. | |

...which is odd because Solinger really CAN sing...he just doesn't fit in with what they are doing now. Arttie
