There was a store doing that here as well. I was thinking of stopping and getting it but when I checked my mail I was surprised to see they sent the download code out early. We used to have a Tower Records here that would always be open well after midnight and I would stop there just about every time I was coming home from band practice. It sucks they had to close that was one of my favorite places to go. About the album.....I listened to it twice all the way through tonight. I knew most of the album already from the songs they were releasing last week so I was anxious to hear the other 4 songs and now that I got to hear the whole thing all together Its actually quite good. Lars' snare didnt seem so annoying as it was from the mp3s so maybe those were the demo versions or just crapp files? who knows. There is a little bit of a ringing with his dreadful snare but its not unbearable. The bass could have been turned up though i didnt really hear too much of it. I only have 2 complaints and they are the instrumental was totally pointless and very annoying especially at the end cause it seemed to totally fall apart, not that the song was put together any better. It sounded very unorganized. The other complaint is The Unforgiven III. I was very excited to hear what they came up with for this one. Im a huge fan of the first one and maybe a little bigger fan of the second one, but this third one just doesnt do what the other two did to me. When I hear the others they give me goosebumps this one is more of a if you listen to it a couple times maybe you'll like it kind of things. So far with two listens its not happening. Also I was surprised they didnt put that train horn sound in the begining I was actually missing that. All in all I think this album is great minus the instrumental. If they can keep this momentum going I think the next album will be even better.

| Am I the only one who thinks the album was mixed a bit TOO loudly? No matter what I listen with (car, headphones, stereo speakers, so on...) there's always this weird distortiony sound to EVERYTHING. I sound retarded I'm sure since it's supposed to sound like it has distortion...it's metal. BUT! There's just this really overpowering low end or something. You can REALLY hear it on The Day That Never Comes in the big solo part at the end. Am I the only one that notices this? It seems like they mixed it JUST TOO loud. As though the volume was pushed just over the edge into that distortiony range. It doesn't bother me too much, but it's still weird. It's not EVERYWHERE on the album but there's plenty of parts that I hear this. I'm not crazy am I?????? | |

| As for the stuff about Megadeth. I've liked ALL of their album except for Risk. Risk isn't terrible. It has some good songs on it, it's just NOT a MEGADETH album. If another band did it, people wouldn't think so horribly of it. And I won't say they've gone downhill since then. They, just like TONS of other bands, have changed their sound over the years. I WILL say my favorite album of theirs is Rust In Peace though, haha. I don't think that means I have to dislike everything after that, in fact I've loved all but the one album...although there's one song on The World Needs A Hero that I didn't like. I like the other songs on that album, and all of their other stuff. I just wish Mustaine would ask Ellefson back into the band...that'd be the COOLEST thing ever!!! :hails: | |

| Well I'm not saying it sounds terrible, it's just not as balanced sounding as say, a Megadeth album would be. Everything is too in your face and they don't scale back at all to allow more clarity in the all of the instruments. And there REALLY are some parts where everyone's going crazy on their respective instrument and it just is overly blasting and it distorts it all up. I still like the album though. | |

i disagree, i think it suits the music. What is it about the music that calls for such a production? It's not horrible, but it could have been so much better. And with a better production, the album would probably come off ten times better. |

I'm not crazy am I?????? No I hear the same thing as well. Especially in The Day That Never Comes. Through my ipod when I listen to it in my truck when the heavy part comes in the music seems to die out a little because the levels are too high. I'll have to wait til I get the actual cd to see how loud the actual album is. My cd player has a level meter. If that goes up to red that thats why. Something they should have fixed before it was sent out. No matter what you do though you'll never get a cd to sound perfect in every single thing you listen to. I remember when my band was recording and we would take the cd home and see how it sounds in the car, home stereos, computers etc. and just about everywhere we put it it sounded different. So whatever i'll take it for what it is I just wish it had a little more bass. or maybe cowbell?
