| I listened to Death Magnetic the whole way through yesterday.... And just barely made it. It was definitely an enjoyable listen, and I do enjoy long songs, but they weren't really that dynamic. I didn't enjoy any of the guitar solos. They sound like the same old boring wah solos he's been doing for years. It is a good return to form, and much better than St. Anger. But I don't think it's up to par with their first four. | |

| I purchased " Death Magnetic" yesterday, I think it is easily their best album in 20 years, I have to give it a few spins before I can give it a fair review, I have to agree with MetalH it is not as dynamic as the other releases but I do feel Kirk Hammet's leads and solos are outstanding. It makes me wish that they had rid themselves of Bob Rock as a producer after "Load". I am curious to see how well it keeps selling since this album is not geared for radio play, but than again neither was " St. Anger" and that is a platinum release. | |

Who does? There's no sense in even attempting to compare. Even if the band wrote the best record of their career, it still wouldn't compare to the first four. |

Anyone else have any info on the numbers?

| Just bought it today. And so far, I've listened up to Track 7 (Unforgiven III) and out of those seven tracks only Track 5, "The Day That Never Comes" is the only track that doesn't seem to skip. Is the mastering THAT bad where it music goes out and then comes back in or do I just have a defective CD?
I'm curious if I just have to put up with it or if I should do an exchange.

That is my main "problem" with this disc too. Take "The Day That Never Comes" f.ex. It would have been a fantstic song if it ended after 5 minutes. Who needs that looooooooooooong a$$ instrumental part at the end? The radio stations here are starting to fade the song out when the heaviest parts kicks in, and I agree that the real song ends there. And some of the other songs are like this too. There are too many ideas crammed into each and every song. _________________

I was listening to it on in my car stereo, which I've never had problems with, but yeah, looks like the problem was ONLY on my car stereo. I'm playing it on my PC right now and it's fine. As for the great mix/master controversy-- everything sounds fine to me besides the nearly St. Anger-ish drums... Granted, I don't have a real stereo system , but for what I have to listen to it through, I'm satisfied.

| I think the album is a great listen, I like everything on it! I haven't heard any stations fading out TDTNC including myself too bad some are. I'll bet the next track sent out to the rock stations will be Unforgiven III-TJ | |
