I was speaking of the days before Testament was a band and Exodus did not even have an album out yet. Kill 'em All/Ride the Lightning '83-85. We would have killed had Hetfield ordered us to. Then MoP came out, they started playing bigger clubs with seats, and my people would rip out the first 5 rows to have a place to mosh. Exodus and Testament obviously turned into absolutely killer bands, but they never had control of the souls of their fanbase the way Metallica did. I always wondered what happened to those seats.... Blast from the past...do you remember the tour they did with W.A.S.P. and Armored Saint? |

| I agree with SpectreFate that it incorporates Load/Black with seasonings of Metallica's 80s releases - If you ask me, I think this album will be a mix of everything Metallica has released - The duel-guitar sessions reminded me a lot of AJFA, and there was specifically one part of Kirk's four little solo's that had a very clear (and awsome) Ride the Lightning sound - Plus, this is a SINGLE..there is much heavier stuff on the rest of the album, I am sure
..this might even be a demo of the song

Yup - That was the first time I saw them. It was a beer show, but my best friends dad was life-long buds with the owner of First Ave., so we could get into any show we wanted. For the beer shows, we had to watch from the side of the stage [which was even cooler]. We got to meet the guys and had our Creeping Death vinyl signed in silver sharpie. Also got to meet WASP before the show. We were thinking, "They guys are too nice. No way they are going to put on the show that we are expecting". We were wrong. Tony Richards was messed up that night, but did not miss a beat. |

I went to the show for the opening acts, I had heard Armored Saint on one of those Metal Massacre albums and of course was already a raving Metallica nut...I hadn't heard W.A.S.P. at that point. I must admit my memories of the gig are a tad fuzzy. |

W.A.S.P. were the headliners when that tour came thru this area back then as well. I remember hearing about that gig on the radio and thinking I'd give my left nut to see it, but sadly, I was only a mere driver's license-less fourteen year old at the time, and the closest it came to my town was L'amour in Brooklyn... _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Lars has a signature snare he has used since 2001! The snares that are on the bottom of the drum are off which made his sound on St. Anger totally annoying. What the video [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyM3_u8SDNQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyM3_u8SDNQ[/quote[/url]] Makes sense to me - I understand some drummers fall in love with a snare and keep using it for as long as possible

Serious now. You're joking, right? Seriously the same snare. No joke You turd! Are you talking about the model of the drum and not the sound? He may be using the same model, I don't know, but I do know it doesn't sound terrible, and nowhere near as bad as St. Anger. Now, are you saying it has the St. Anger tone? |

Now, are you saying it has the St. Anger tone? Yea the model of the drum. Its 100% better than st. anger but it just has a sound to it where it sounds like its either not tuned right or it needs to be muffled. I dont know. I bought a snare and it annoyed the hell out of me. It reminded me of this sound and I was ready to send it back. I went and bought a new head and I couldnt believe the difference in sound. Even the guy whos been doing some recordings for my band said is that the same crappy snare you had before cause it sounds great now. For you people who thinks its stupid to even be talking about this can kiss my booty. Im a drummer stupid things like this bother me OK!!

Yep, it was the same way when I saw the show...to be honest I really don't even remember the W.A.S.P. set, by that point I was beyond inebriation. My guess is we left not too long after Metallica played. |

I really like this song, but I tend to agree with this. While I think they did a good job with it, it does sort of feel like they were trying too hard. I'm still of the opinion that Load and Reload was the product of a band doing what was natural. The albums, despite being so drastically differnt, flowed and the songs were good, if not great. Then St. Anger was clearly the complete opposite--a band trying so hard to be relevant and forcing things. We'll see what happens when this album drops, but if all the songs flow like the single, then it'll ultimately be something of a failure, at least on a creativity level. The band's name is Metallica, and there's a certain expectation--or possibly stigma--attached to it, but I think they should do what comes natural to them. And if it's heavy rock, or whatever, so be it. |

It's when they are really trying to thrash the song out towards the ending it gets a tad annoying. It should be 2 songs, because they seem like 2 different song ideas. _________________
