Iron Maiden
So we just returned from Irvine seeing Iron Maiden! What a great show!!!
We got to the arena as Lauren Harris was on-stage. I didn't hear it but I guess they did ok from what I was told. But it's Steve Harris' daughter so whatever.
We make our way in and Anthrax had started. I'd say they were in their 3rd or 4th song. They were LAME!!! I was never really a big fan of Anthrax and I guess this proved why. Their new singer is not good at all. He sounds like John Bush for the most part, but too much. His stage ranting reminded me of Phil Anselmo but I hate him too. He was also off key for half of the show. I know he was probably shitting himself being the new guy in Anthrax, but I guess my interest in them is just nil. Throughout their set you'd see heads bopping, but most people I was around were just sitting there bored.
Maiden hit the stage and just let loose! The stage props were AWESOME!!! They brought back the Powerslave stage set up but updated it a bit. The colors were great and was seriously picture perfect! The sound was clear, and as complex as Maiden are, they were tighter than hell! Here's the set-list:
01. Intro - Churchill's Speech 02. Aces High 03. 2 Minutes to Midnight 04. Revelations 05. The Trooper 06. Wasted Years 07. The Number of the Beast 08. Run to the Hills 09. Rime of the Ancient Mariner 10. Powerslave 11. Heaven Can Wait 12. Can I Play With Madness? 13. Fear of the Dark 14. Iron Maiden ----------------------------- 15. Moonchild 16. The Clairvoyant 17. Hallowed Be Thy Name
They could have played a lot longer! I wishg they would have. With so many songs that I like that they never played, I'd love to hear some of those again live now days! I think Flight Of Icarus, Running Free, Stranger in a Strange Land and Murders in the Rue Morgue would really have been awesome. But oh well. I am just damn happy I was able to see Maiden again. Now if they can just get Janick Gers to quit acting like a Fairy on stage, they would KILL!

Cool review. Wish I were there. Sorry to hear about Anthrax's apparent mis-step.

He was actually fairly tame when we saw them here in NM. He wasn't doing too much of the usual prancing around. At the end he was throwing his guitar around and having a good time. That I don't mind as much as the dancing and prancing. He did shred though. His solos were fantastic.

exactly. so I am sure you see my point on him. hahaha That's ridiculous! He is a great guitarist and he does an awful lot of killer solo's and amazing rhythm's, but ummm, he needs some stage lessons on being more masculine.

Oh, I see. Very festive!!
Lol, I love his old-man partial split!!
Did someone hand him a painted human skull? That was pretty weird/cool.

Meh. Could be worse. At least he's not shadow-boxing.
Bummer to hear that about Anthrax, though. They're still one of my favorites, no matter who's in the band. I'm missing them this time around, but everytime I've seen Maiden, it's always a great show. Nice job on the review.
