| I'm trying to get into Iron Maiden, and I don't have enough cash to buy a bunch of CD's but I wanna get something. I know it sounds like a cop-out, but are there any compilations/best of's worth looking into or is there one immortal album that pretty much sums the whole band up? | |

| I would recommend The Essential Iron Maiden 2 cd set. Its pretty cheap and does a great job covering maidens career. You might be able to find one @ http://www.secondspin.com Thanks! Alex _________________ | |

| Hmm both The Essential Iron Maiden and Live After Death seem interesting. In Live After Death do they do any kind of extended wankery? Extra jams and whatnot? | |

| Not much, really. It pretty much rocks right through. Great energy and crowd play. I'm NOT of fan of Live albums normally but that's the ONE that got me into Maiden. It's a great sampling of everything up to and including Powerslave. | |

| Sounds like Megadeth - That One Night (Opinions May Vary) to me. Well the first one I see, I'll probably get, because Iron Maiden's one of those bands I'd like to hear, but wasn't allowed to till now. | |

| I'll second Live After Death. I like live albums for sampling a new band because they don't become redundant when you get into them and get all the studio releases. Plus, that is one of the best live albums ever. | |

| Live After Death is a good way to go. The Essential Iron Maiden or Best Of The Beast is also a good retrospective, althought Essential is a little heavy on the Blaze years for my tastes. My personal favorite CD is piece of mind AMOLAD is also very good Tough choice - start with Live or Essential | |

"wasn't allowed to?" Dare I ask... why? _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| The PMRC. It's not like Maiden is "bad", but some people had that impression from living in the PMRC era. | |

??? Your profile sez you're 15... you weren't even BORN in the PMRC era. By the way, I lived through it. It sucked. Fortunately my parents realized that simply owning a couple of the albums on the PMRC's "Filthy Fifteen" list did not mean that my brother and I were going to grow up to be serial killers. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| No... lol. My folks lived threw it, and well they enfoced the same thing on me for a while.
What I'm trying to say is, my parents were kinda like Metal = Satan. So I couldn't listen to any metal, including christian metal. It's taken forever to convince them it's just music.

Sorry to hear that. No kidding. But it's all good now. When I got Megadeth's That One Night I knew they had gotten over it.

Thanks! Alex I agree The Essential Iron Maiden is a good all around introduction to Iron Maiden through the years. Iron Maiden has had three vocals and a few different guitarist teams which has, to say the least, provided diversity across the entire catalog.

That would be my reccomendation. For me that would definately be the place to start as this includes most of the best songs from everything up to the X-Factor. If cash is tight then your next purchase should be any one or all three of the abums recorded since Bruce came back, thats either Brave New World, Dance of Death or A Matter of Life And Death.
