What country turns your humor crank the most? Each of the three choices have a, seemingly, very distinct style. I only included 2 examples from each country, but, obviously there are dozens of other examples.
I absolutely love Kids In The Hall thus my vote for Canada. But I watch SNL religiously (sometimes I wonder why) and have a soft spot for Monty Python, Graham Norton, and Benny Hill. It could have gone either way for me.
SNL should have been taken out behind the barn and put out of it's (and our) misery years ago. MADTv is hit & miss. SCTV and Kids in the Hall have been the most consistantly funny over the years and didn't overstay their welcome. Same could be said for Monty Python too. Benny Hill gets a nod for the scantily clad women but loses points for the times when they would try to interject some culture (singers) into the show.
Has anyone seen "The Whitest Kids You Know" on IFC? It's unedited sketch comedy. I've only seen it a few times so far, and more ofter than not, it's pretty funny.
I have decent seats for the Kid in the Hall at the end of the month, here in Minneapolis. Me and Auntie saw them live half a dozen years ago, and it was ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!!! KITH have been tops for me since the 80's. Although the Young Ones rates #1 as far as all comedy, being that the YO were not a skit type show.

The Kids in the Hall still perform? Wow. I had no idea. Is it the same guys from the tv show or do they bring in new cast members like SNL?
Yeah - they tour every 5 years or so. Same 5 guys (it could never be any different!). check 'em out if ya can!!!

That was easy. For my money no comedy troupe in history even compares to Monty Python. Moreover, there is just something about British humor in general that I like. So very dry...

My wife's English origins lean me towards great things like MONTY PYTHON...LEAGUE OF GENTLEMEN and LITTLE BRITAIN....as well as other little known sketch gems as BRILLIANT, BIG TRAIN, THE GOON SHOW and THAT WEBB & MITCHELL LOOK.
as well as UK Standups EDDIE IZZARD, ROWAN ATKINSON and others...
I like SNL but not all of it, only certain seasons...same with MAD TV....I did think MTV's THE STATE was brilliant....
SCTV I was never fortunate enough to see but KIDS IN THE HALL are awesome...
WHITEST KIDS U KNOW is not too shabby....
hahahahah, I didn't vote at all..

Now way is it tough. UK all the way. There's so many hilarious shows that are unknown to most Americans. The comedies were the best thing about UK TV when I was there.
Monty Python just has sooooo many classic skits. The very first DVD box set I bought was all the Monty Python episodes. I've seen 'em a dozen times and I still laugh out loud every time.

I love all sketch comedy shows but I went with my homeland Canada just because Kids in the hall and SCTV along with shows like Red Green and Royal Canadian Air Farce were shows I watched growing up so yeah lot of memories with the Canadian comedy

Love this show! I DVR it every time it's on. Great new comedy.
Although I voted for SNL because I think it's brilliant at times and the overall body of work is actually mind-numbing in it's volume of greatness I have to recognize the UK as well.
My 2nd favorite US sitcom ever - The Office - was a UK show first, so that says something.

I don't watch tv, except for the Discovery Channel.

The Office has got to be one of the worst comedies of all time! Man, there is not one funny thing about that stinkin' show!
Here's a few short clips from one of my favorite shows when I was living in England. It was about two roommates—a merry wanna-be actor and a fat, ugly redhead who thought she was hot. The show only went two seasons, unfortunately. But man, it was funny as hell.
