Which do you play? Soprillo, Sopranino, Soprano, Alto, F-Mezzo, C-Melody, Tenor, Baritone, Bass, Contrabass, Subcontrabass, or Double-Subcontrabass?

Meh if it's right. Sax is saddly underutilized in rock n' roll, which is a shame. Hanoi Rocks, David Bowie, Little Richard, The Stooges all rocked and rolled hard with the sax. Lets not forget the mighty Bruce Springsteen, my dear friend!! Clarence Clements for president!!!!! _________________

Naked City it was called................although my memory could be wrong I don't think that was considered metal. I know what you're talking about. It was more experimental/avant-garde jazz.

| ZORN did several "nearly death metal with bursts of insane sax noise" projects...
NAKED CITY, PAINKILLER...he did work with MR BUNGLE which is not quite metal but sure is loud... _________________ "Oh man, I need TV? When I got T Rex"

| BLACK SABBATH has sax on the instrumental "Breakout" from the Never Say Die! album. It sounds pretty good to me. | |

| I haven't heard that many. There are some, like at the end to Goodbye to Romance by ozzy, but that song isn't metal. |

| Having just responded to Warlock and Riot threads I remember that Riot used the instrument on their Privilige of Power release, and Doro on her True at Heart album. None of these songs are among respective artists heavier by a long shot though. |

| I was listening to my MP3 player today and on came a badass tune with saxophone: PRO-PAIN - ONE MAN ARMYAnd these both have trombones: DEVIN TOWNSEND - BAD DEVILSTRAPPING YOUNG LAD - ANTIPRODUCTSo yeah, saxophones and trombones can work if done right. Not really shocking that Devin can pull it off, but I'd forgotten about Pro-Pain. The voicebox adds another cool dynamic to that song. |

| I guess if it doesn't overwhelm the music (same goes for keyboards) it can sound alright. There's an instrumental song on Metal Massacre 10 called Egyptian Falcon and the lead instrument is a trumpet(if I'm remembering right) and it sounds great. | |
