| I hear ya, ToB. I think he's a really good guitar player, as well. But let's be honest...there have been rumors for how many albums now that Mick didn't even play on the discs? (Not saying I believe the rumors, just asking...). Apparently a LOT of people think others could fill Mick's shoes. I disagree, however. As was said before, this is a band that really IS 4 guys. Together, they make a certain kind of "magic" for lack of a better word. BUT Nikki and Vince are crucial to their success as a band...they flopped without Vince singing (Motley Crue), and, as I said, without Nikki, there would be nothing to sing. They recorded and toured without Tommy (New Tattoo) and did as well as most other bands of the era with more recent releases. Musically, I don't think Tommy was missed on that disc...I think production and the "scene" killed that album. Its all just speculation. I'm not trying to come off as a Motley know-it-all, because I am not. I just read a LOT and this is the style of hard rock/metal I tend to gravitate towards, so I do know a LOT...but would never claim to know it ALL. Arttie | |

Really? That's cool. I only listen to the Boneyard & 80s though. Boneyard is the one I usually listen to - I don't listen to squizz or liquid metal that often. I get em on DirecTV (don't have XM for the car - I have a 60 gig ipod loaded with metal!)

I agree 100%!!! My wife laughs when a Rush song comes on because I switch channels immediately!
Every FREAKIN' time I get in the car, somewhere between Point A and Point B, a Rush song comes on. I hate Rush! It's ridiculous how much they play'em. I don't even think their music fits the channel. When Rush comes on, I flip to the 80s or try out Deep Tracks or Top Tracks (both of which are pretty cool but seem to be fairly indentical with their playlists). - arttieTHE1manparty wrote:

Totally agree with your assessment of New Tattoo and with the "magic" belonging to those four when they're together... no matter how much they may hate each other. Personally, I could take or leave Tommy being in the band, but I think he helps Motley maintain the spotlight (not putting it all on him, I just think all original members need to be in the band to stay noticed in the mainstream).

| I can't believe how much I'm loving this new album! It annihilated New Tattoo. I actually like the new album more than Feelgood, Girls, and Theater. What's It Gonna Take, the title track, Welcome To The Machine, Girls=Trouble, This Ain't A Love Song, White Trash Circus, and Goin' Out Swingin' are all phenominal. Mick and Tommy are the stars of this album, IMO. And, the rest of the tunes are awesome too.
To be honest, I had kind of lost respect for them in the last couple of years. When I saw them for the second time (Route Of All Evil), they were pretty bad. It seemed like they were on autopilot and just didn't give a damn. Strange because I saw them a few months earlier on COS and they were outstanding (still one of the best shows I've ever been too). Now, they sound like they want it again. And, I think Tommy's even on board, truly with it. He drums on the album like he's enjoying the rock'n'roll sound once again.
I'm really choked because I'm in Manitoba for my bro's wedding when they come here. They do play Winnipeg while I'm out there, but on the night of my bro's wedding. Oh man! What a bummer! I'm going to see what I can do. |

I agree. I really really like this new one. I haven't liked a Crue album this much since Shout at the Devil. |

| Definitely a great album. Picked it up last week. The lyrics are pretty horrid in spots, but I can tune those out. Not sure I'd put this in their top three, but it's definitely top 5. |

| Picked this up today for $12.99 at FYE... it's a REALLY good disc, but it does feel a little "too modern" in places (like where the guitars are burried in the mix under the bass), and it could have done without all the profanity. I would have to say that it is my 4th or 5th FAV CRUE album... | |

| Listening to Vince Neil latest solo disc has rekindled my interest in all things Motley. I'm even thinking of re-reading The Dirt. In the meantime, I've also recently picked up Saints of Los Angeles and it's really good. Very catchy. I've pretty much liked ALL of the Crue's albums (yea, even Generation Swine) over the years to some degree, but when this one originally came out, I was so engrossed in other music that I just kinda let it fall by the wayside ("I'll get it eventually"). After spinning this one for the last 2 weeks, my only regret is not picking this one up sooner. Good stuff. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | Yeah, I really enjoyed this album. I think it's really underrated but it sold pretty well, so at least the album has that going for it. Motley has done a great job of sounding current while not totally abandoning their original sound. "Saints of Los Angeles", "Motherf**er of the Year" and "The Animal In Me" were instant classics, IMO.
"The Animal In Me" shoulda/woulda/coulda been huge on radio. Too bad they didn't choose it as a single.

They might have. I definately heard that song before. I only bought the album 2 weeks ago, but I immediately recognized 2 songs, the title track and that one. Unless satellite radio just picked up on it and put it on their playlists. Good tune too. Nice "modern" ballad without the cheese. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | I got the album in my mailbox yesterday. Spinning it right now.
It's very very good. Vince sounds great and the band's performance is pretty solid.
Lots of instantly memorable tracks.
