| I played the hell out of this when I was in high school and now...not so much. Peace and Rust get a lot more attention from me. | |

| I'm actually the opposite. I never really cared for it much at the time but today love it. Peace Sells I loved and now hardly play. | |

| My favorite is Countdown but SFSGSW is a close second. |

For the longest time, I didn't really like Countdown; I was so taken with the older material that I couldn't get into that album. Lately, though, I've been loving that album; it's addicting. And now, I'm starting to appreciate the more radio-friendly metal. |

| Love the album one of Megadeth's greats along with Rust In Peace,Peace Sells, and Countdown To Extinction IMO. Even though Countdown was more commercial.. Anyway some songs dont do anythin for me like Liar and 502 but other then that that album rocks out loud | |

| When it first came out, I didn't fall in love with the album. Maybe that was due to the greatness that was "Peace Sells"? It wasn't until probably a couple of years after its release that I gave the album a serious spin. What I discovered was that my initial opinion of the album was totally off. Though, I pretty much like the album as a whole, songs such as "Into The Lungs of Hell", "Set The World Afire", "In My Darkest Hour", and "Hook In Mouth" rule. It is disappointing when you hear the band talk about how the album was rushed out to further support the drug habits of both Mustaine and Junior. I always wondered if that meant that both Dave's feel like the album was a disappointment in some way? | |

I agree Ult, it sucks that I got rid of all my original Megadeth cd's, 'cause I have a hard time listening to the remasters.

I was hyped when I first heard that they were being remastered, though I never did go out and get them. When I read ULT's review, I pretty much understood that it was wise to stick with the old. In this case, old is better.

| Excellent Megadeth album, I have to agree I hate the Sex Pistols cover, I am huge Sex Pistols fan but their version did nothing for me. The rest of the album is excellent and makes me what became of Jeff Young after this album. Thankfully I have not heard the reissues Megadeth albums, but I agree with ULT donot mess with your history. Leave it the way it was, why add crap or re-record parts of the original recording, sounds like a musician trying to re-write their own personal history. | |

| I haven't heard this album in years, probably won't until I find the original CD issue because I wouldn't touch these "rebastard" versions with a 10 foot cattle prod.
At the time it came out I was a little disappointed compared to Peace Sells, but I still played the hell out of it. Jeff Young was actually the brightest spot on the record for me. The songwriting as a whole wasn't up to the level of Peace Sells, but there are still some real gems on the record that stack up with the best of anything Dave has written. |

Well if you listen to the original versions they DO have the horns on there. They're basically just louder is all. You just don't like it because it doesn't sound EXACTLY like it used to. Which I can understand as I've had that same feeling with other band's remixed cd's before as well. As for Ozzy...well that's just retarded. They keep selling Blizzard of Ozz at Wal-Mart for about 7 dollars and I won't buy it JUST BECAUSE half of the album is re-recorded. It bugs me though because they put a sticker on there and act like "since it's new and pretty sounding it must be so much better!" I hate that. But those horns have ALWAYS BEEN THERE man.

| Here is news regarding Jeff Young: Former MEGADETH guitarist Jeff Young will release his solo debut, "Equilibrium", in early 2009. The CD, which was mixed by Michael Wagener (OZZY OSBOURNE, METALLICA, KING'S X, EXTREME, SKID ROW), will feature guest appearances by the following musicians:
* Los Angeles vocal phenom Debby Holiday (JOHN WAITE, ROD STEWART) * Brazilian singer/guitarists Badi Assad and Lenine * Australian singer Gilli Moon * Drummer Matt Chamberlain (TORI AMOS, FIONA APPLE, DAVID BOWIE) * Fretless bassist Tony Franklin (JIMMY PAGE, THE FIRM, BLUE MURDER) * Brazilian percussionists Marcos Suzano (STING, LENINE) and Simone Soul (CHICO CESAR)
Four advance tracks from "Equilibrium" are now streaming at www.zenguitarist.net:
* "Calling Jupiter" featuring Debby Holiday, Matt Chamberlain, Tony Franklin, Gilli Moon
* "Taranta por Drea" (instrumental interlude)
* "Liquid Voices" featuring Gilli Moon, Matt Chamberlain, Tony Franklin, Marcos Suzano
* "Entrelace" Rio Mix (bonus non-album alternate mix featuring vocal duet with Lenine and Badi Assad, percussion by Simone Soul)
Home studio rehearsal video footage of Jeff Young performing "a very early and raw version" of the original song "Angelina" can be viewed . The top of Young's 1998 Manuel Bellido flamenco "blanca" guitar crafted in Granada, Spain gets a good beating thanks to a flamenco technique known as the golpe. There's also a fair bit of funk bass popping and slapping thrown in for good measure. The final recorded version, which will be included on "Equilibrium", features Brazilian percussion by Marcos Suzano (LENINE, STING), lead vocal by Badi Assad and flamenco palmas by Paco and Yolanda Arroyo.
Jeff's entire career with MEGADETH was spent recording and touring in support of the band's 1988 platinum-selling album "So Far, So Good...So What!" Following his stint with MEGADETH, Jeff began contributing the "Fingerprints" column for Guitar magazine. For a portion of the 1990s, Jeff stepped away from his career to deal with the untimely deaths of first his father and later his mother while immersing himself in the further study of classical, flamenco, gypsy jazz and other world music varieties. In 1998, he resurfaced with new Brazilian musical partner, Badi Assad. Together, the duo crafted exotic soundscapes for their first collaboration, BADI ASSAD's "Chameleon". The album, co-written, arranged, and produced by Jeff, introduced their acoustic-world-fusion sounds to diverse audiences worldwide. Opening concerts for renowned artists, including Joe Cocker and Cassandra Wilson, as well as performances on 1999's Lilith Fair and Farm Aid 2000, are testament to the considerable cross-over appeal of Badi and Jeff's "new world music" explorations. In 2003, the track "Waves" from "Chameleon" was featured in the Michael and Kirk Douglas film "It Runs in the Family", as well as on the movie's soundtrack.

Everybody seems to have a different opinion on that song. I for one think it's one of the best songs on the album! Anyway, SFSGSW is definitely one of my favorite Deth albums. It makes me want to break stuff.

| I agree, this album is indeed underrated. Personally, my favorite is "Peace Sells", but this one does not fall far behind. My only complaint is the Sex Pistols' cover. It is not as bad as Motley Crues, but they should have still kept it off the album (much less released it as a single). | |
