| So this scenario has been floated around for a while, so i thought why not give it a go. I set the scene, desert island, stranded. What 10 records do you call upon to make your mundane hopeless existence seem bearable. Are they your top 10 most played? Or are they waited in variety? How many metal or jazz? See different than rattling off your 10 favourites isn't it. Anyway here's mine, complete with pretty pictures of said album and smart ass comment! 1. Beasts Of Bourbon - The Low Road
No rock n' roll album is more caustic and dangerous as this one (Appetite For Destruction was last seen whimpering back home with its tail between it's legs after being put next to this). Like Nick Cave given the growl and macho bravado of Bon Scott sound tracked to a depraved sleazy swampy Gun Clubbed Rolling Stones. Kills those fav 4 birds (Nick Cave, AC/DC, Gun Club, Rolling Stones) with one massive 'rock' making them obsolete and un needed for my island nightmare. 2. Faces - A Nod Is A Good As A Wink ... To A Blind HorseGood times are enclosed on this piece of plastic (or wax) no matter were you are or how hopeless your situation. Will make a fine accomplice for all my coconut liquor fueled (non)debauchery. 3. The Posies - Dear 23This piece of tainted sugar sweetness will serve me well, since i actually will be "avoiding parties" because of my isolation. Songs that can be played thousands of times without getting old, the thrill still there while anticipating those floating cloud-breaking harmonies in the middle of song. 4. Amy Winehouse - Back To BlackA voice as good as Etta James and songs that sound like the Ronettes, you can't pass this one up. And an almost strange reassurance that no matter how desperate your situation is your better off than were Amy's at. 5. The Undisputed Truth - Higher Than HighSpacey psychedelic funk that will transport you away from your mundane island habitat to a sexy black planet were white afros are the norm. 6. King's X - Out Of The Silent PlanetNot the best King's X record (Tapehead anyone?) but most surely the best desert island companion. The perfect soundtrack to laying on the beach and looking at the stars while "wondering". Ethereal and dreamy beyond belief almost like their was another hand involved in making this music other than this talented trio, and i ain't talking about the producer! Soul metal for the lonely. 7. Manic Street Preachers - Generation TerroristsGuns N' Roses, The Clash and Hanoi Rocks, sounds good to me. And a double album (cheating) bursting with the pages of a thousand literary greats and good ole working man blues. Will stave off the boredom and the money hungry multinationals. "Rock 'n' roll is our epiphany- culture, alienation, boredom and despair" really does sum up the situation. 8. Urge Overkill - SaturationLike a moth to light, i can't resist the blinding orange glow of this sh*t hot album. Not a fluff track on it, all big arena rocked guitars and poptastic hooks. Eliciting images of Kash Nato and crew in all their cool rock starry bugged eyed sunglasses glory. 9. The Shangri-Las - Myrmidons Of MelodramaYou can't lose with those chirpy teenage voices regaling you with tales of doomed romance and tragedy. Actually might make you think the island isn't such a bad place after all being away from all the ups and downs that come with associating with other human beings. 10. The Cult - ElectricThe wild animal rock album, one to yell out "I'm a wolf child baby" at the top of your lungs without any inhibitions. One to beat your chest to while destroying every palm tree in sight.

| 1. TSOL - Dance With Me 2. Hell Comes to Your House - Various Artists 3. Return of the Living Dead (soundtrack) 4. X - Los Angeles 5. Ministry - Twitch 6. Iron Maiden - Somewhere in Time 7. Stars on Thrash - Various Artists 8. Toxic Reasons - Bullets for You 9. Demons (soundtrack) 10. Wire - 154 or something along those lines, could easily be replaced by another few dozen but these popped into my head first. I'm especially fond of taking compilations/soundtracks with me as they contain several different artists, sounds and styles. |

| Impossible. I could give you a list of 10 today, and then if you asked me again tomorrow I'd give you a completely different 10. Can't do it. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Well, I have TSO with three female led songs (four if you count the very last track) and the cover art for Edge Of Thorns so I know I won't forget about momen.

| On a desert Island I would have too much time spent eating ice cream, chokolade puddin', jello etc. I wouldn't have to to listen to music! _________________ | |

| I have Nightwish and Therion (who have several female singers). Plus I have Highway To Hell where half the songs are about women. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Shouldn't it be a "deserted" island? A desert island is kind of an oxymoron. |

Yes, I did. - Quote :

You're obviously confusing the word " desert" (as in the arid, hot, sandy tropical place) with " Dessert" (note the second "s"! This is the word for the sweet treats eaten after dinner). But that's OK, because you're, like, all Norwegian and stuff. We forgive you. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"
