Best and Worst of ANNIHILATOR...

What would you say are the best and worst albums by Annihilator and why?

BEST: Carnival Diablos
I'm sure most fans will list either of the band's first two albums. However, despite loving the early material, I really felt that Jeff Waters hit his peak with Carnival Diablos. The album is heavy, thrashy, yet memorable. The production is good. The vocals are great. It's a solid album from beginning to end.

WORST: Remains
It's the mid 1990's and Waters is apparently at a loss with what to do with his project. Metal is a dirty word in the industry as everyone clamors for whatever trend is being forced upon them by the music industry. Jeff releases this stagnant industrial metal project, moving away from his classic metal, speed and thrash roots. I just never could get into this one.

The best in my opinion is their debut and SET THE WORLD ON FIRE and the worse, the last one and the one before(and REMAINS)

BEST: Carnival Diablos
Not my favorite Annihilator album, but easily their best. Joe Comeau (although I didn't like him in Liege Lord) is perfect for this band. He was the best vocalist the band ever had and the music is stellar and heavy as hell. This is the best example of what Annihilator can be.

WORST: All For You
I never made it through this album. Dave Padden was the worst choice of singer I have ever heard since Blaze Bayley. This album has none of the excitement that I come to expect from an Annihilator album. I feel Jeff Waters was trying something new that failed miserably. I traded this along with Schizo Deluxe shortly after buying them. This is easily the worst album I have ever bought, and I bought Jane Weidlin's "Fur" album back in the day.

Well, except that part. But seriously, I hated ALL FOR YOU as well. I haven't bought an Annihilator album since. I can not STAND that Dave Padden guy.

"Alice In Hell"-Best
"Remains"-Worst

... really liked "King Of The Kill" also.

Yes King of the Kill is a personal favorite. But Refresh the Demon is my very favorite.

I don't totally hate "REMAINS" but I don't love it either. I kinda file that one under "interesting experiment." It kinda sounds like what Shotgun Messiah were doing on their VIOLENT NEW BREED release, except Shotgun Messiah's didn't sound quite as sterile and clinical.

Then again, I got lucky and bought REMAINS used for $2.99 or some similarly ridiculous low price... I could understand how the folks who paid big $$ for it as an import (as it wasn't available in the US until several years after its release overseas) would be pretty P.O.'d by that one.

Best: Set The World on Fire! Yes, I know, let the flogging begin! I just love the melodies on this album. The vocals fit really well, and combined with Jeff's stellar guitar work, you have a perfect album, imho.

Worst: Remains. Jeff solo is not good, and he ain't no solo singer either.

BEST: "Never Neverland"
WORST: Probably one of the last 4 or so

Even "Remains" had two songs I liked, which is more than I can say for most releases I hear these days.

Best: Never Neverland (on a different day I might say Alice In Hell)
Worst: Remains

I like EVERYTHING Annihilator have done, but Remains has SOOOOOOO much filler and ideas I just thought were plain screwy. Easily my least favorite by them.

Best: Alice In Hell

Worst: All For You

Probably the only one here, but I have been addicted to Schizo Deluxe since it's release. Alice is a close second. Fav song: Rage Absolute (the rest of All for You is fairly forgettable. But that 19 second scream at the end of RA is, personally, one of the most metal moments I have ever heard!!! Unless that scream was computer enhanced, it rivals anything Dickinson or Halford have done.).

Least fav: ummm....Phoenix Rising. Don't know how a Winger ballad got on an Annihilator album, but whatever.

Not the only one bro! I think Schizo is a great album! Definitely one of their top 4 for me (alongside the first 2 and Carnival Diablos).

I agree on this one even though I have them all Remains is the worst!

haven't listined to mush annihilater, but from what i have heard schizo deluxe was good, alice in hell is a classic, and metal...well we don't talk about it in my house
