| on No life til metal,How can you say Loudness's album "Soldier of Fortune" is just another 80's metal album? Akiras best guitar work is on this album, and Vescera has one of the best voices in metal. There were a few love songs, but how can you deny tracks like Soldier of Fortune, You shook me, Red light shooter, Demon Disease, etc? SoF is by far Loudness's best album. | |

Getting an American singer in Loudness was a big mistake. They lost their charm and their identity. Indeed the guitar work is good and Vescera is a good singer. However, it wasn't the same band and they sounded like any number of 80's bands with a guitar shredder. That's my opinion anyhow.

Loudness with Niihara had their own unique sound. When they replaced him with Vescera they became just another plain ol' nothin' special 80s band.

| Mike Vescera did fit in good with Yngwie Malmsteen. He is one of the few vocalists that Yngwie used that contributed to the writing process. | |

I'll have to give it a fresh listen. It's been a while. Its a grower, thats for sure. I really grew to love it. Just pretend its not a Megadeth album.

However, it wasn't the same band and they sounded like any number of 80's bands with a guitar shredder. That's my opinion anyhow. My stance is somewhat on Scott's side. I think that having the Japanese vocalist gave Loudness a charm, I was discussing that with my guitar teacher not long ago. That was one of the main draws for Loudness. I don't feel Soldier of Fortune, despite being very commercial at times, is a terrible album. It has one flat out excellent song, the title track, which is one of the best songs they've ever done. A few of the other songs are pretty good (Demon Disease in particular), and the rest of it I don't really care for. It seems for half of it they're trying to make a good 80s metal record, and the other half they're aiming for radio hits (Yes, I know, almost all Loudness albums had at least one really commercial sounding song on it, but their later albums had about half of the album aiming for a hit). As it stands, maybe separate Vescera fronted Loudness from the other 80s Loudness albums. It does have some good material (the title track is among their best ever, as I've said before), and some clunkers (Lost Without Your Love, Long After Midnight).

| But the bottom line is Vescera is a GREAT vocalist (just listen to Obsession), he just wasn't great for Loudness. |

| Obsession are one of the most underrated 80s traditional/melodic metal bands, in my opinion. I own both Scarred for Life and Methods of Madness, and I like them both. Mike Vescera is a very good vocalist. | |

He's one of my favorites. My favorite disc with him is Obsession - Methods of madness. There new album Carnival of Lies is sweet too, check it out.

| NLTM's "review" of Satan's Host is pointless, it probably shouldn't be on the page. | |

| Ult, Well it don't happen often, but we definately don't agree about Deliverance-Camelot In Smithereens. That was gosh aweful! I could hardly make it through each song. That one.....aint gonna grow on me I don't think. I'd have to say Assimilate was better. That to me has to be their worst by far.

| Ult, I gotta disagree with your review of the self titled Loudness album. I have a real hard time getting through that one. I like Masaki's vocals in EZO but for some reason they don't mesh right with Loudness. But your opinion is yours as mine is mine. |

I thought that it was split with a Nevermore EP? No, it was split with Sanctuary's Into the Mirror Black Live and was a bootleg. I have since acquired an official copy of Into the Mirror Black Live without the Satan's Host stuff. - spectrefate wrote:

But your opinion is yours as mine is mine. I like the self titled quite a bit. Might have to drag that one out and give it a spin tomorrow. For me it was a return to the earlier, heavier years of Loudness. - T-Roy wrote:

I know many fans that hate that album. It's not my favorite, but every once in a while I get into a Deliverance kick and will just play everything by them and I certainly don't hate Camelot in Smithereens.
