Same here. I just got one of their greatest hits cds and that song was there and took me by surprise. It has a different singer Max Carl and a less southern rock influence. Great power ballad.

That was after Don Barnes left and was replaced by Jeff Carlisi for many years (88-97) so many people probably didn't realize it (i.e. me). Jeff Carlisi was with the band since the beginning up until after the Rock n Roll Strategy album. Check out the lineup for the first record. Track listing
- "Four Wheels" (Barnes, Carlisi, Van Zant)
- "Tell Everybody" (Barnes, Van Zant)
- "Just Hang On" (Barnes, Carlisi, Van Zant)
- "I Just Wanna Rock & Roll"
- "Long Time Gone" (Barnes, Carlisi, Lyons, Van Zant)
- "Fly Away" (Barnes, Carlisi, Lyons, Van Zant)
- "Around and Around" (Chuck Berry)
- "Play A Simple Song" (Carlisi, Van Zant)
- "Gypsy Belle" (Barnes, Carlisi, Van Zant)
- "Hold on loosley" (Van Zant)
Personnel
- Don Barnes - guitar, Vocals, background vocals
- Steve Brookins - percussion, drums
- Jeff Carlisi - dobro, guitar, steel guitar
- Jack Grondin - trom bone

I know, I messed up, I couldn't remember the repalcement vocalist so I looked in Wikipedia and that was the only name that looked familiar so I copied and pasted it (I should have looked more closely). I should have known better because Bone Against Steel is one of my favoirte AOR discs and Max Carl was the second vocalist on that album. I get names messed up easily sometimes, my memory for names is pretty crappy .

| For the "all things 38 Special" enthusiast, Don Barnes' 1989 unreleased solo album "Ride The Storm" is available on a streaming basis here:

Not great, but not terrible. |
